Pull Back Handlebars for 2013 CVO Ultra?
« on: April 02, 2015, 10:55:27 AM »

The dealership told me they aren't available for the '13 CVO Ultra. I think the handlebars are 1" diameter which is the same as an Ultra Classic. I'd like to change them out and get them a further back. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Dave

I think the best way to go is a bike show or rally and ask to sit on bikes with different handlebars.  I know it hard to make up your mind without a test ride but that was the best I could do.  I choose Wild ones 578 mini apes.  The have a special bend in them that allows a little shift forward and back to make a big difference in the pullback so to speak.  Everyone is built a little different so you need to really look around and not just buy the ones that so-n-so says are the best.  I think you will want to stick with a good name brand.
Good Luck and show us what you decide on.

Interesting....the 2013 CVO Ultra Classic that I bought has the Touring Pullback bars.  They were on the bike when I bought it.  The bars, cupholders and thicker rider's backrest were the only mods to the bike.  :nixweiss:

What is the dealer saying is different on a 13 than a 12 or a 14?

Might try stopping by another dealer.

Last Sunday I went to the dealer in Oxford Alabama, told him I wanted 2 inch taller bars with 2 inch pullback. According to the parts guy and the owner the only bar offer by Harley is 2 inch up and 2 forward.  Commonly known by them as extended reach, 1 inch diameter. My bike is an 06 so they may have different ones for later years.  They did offer to order the ones I wanted from an independent manufacture if I wanted. Quoted 8 hours install at $85.00 per hour. I asked what if they got done in 4 and was told they made a bigger profit, no negotiating on cost.

The seller provided me all the paperwork on this bike so..........
This 2013 CVO Ultra Classic had 3,639 miles when the bars were added.

The handlebar is 2" up and 2" back (ant they are 1") according to internet research for:

#56176-08   Handlebar, 2" pullback   $149.95

http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/pull-back-touring-handlebar-pa-09-5617608--1

Also listed on this dealership receipt is:

#32310-08   Twist Grip Sensor Kit     $104.95
#41751-06A Gasket, Brakeline  2 ea,       2.92
#41800219   Dot 4 Brake Fluid                7.95
and a quart of Syn3 oil.                          12.95
They also charged 6 hrs. labor

I hope this helps.  Like I suggested above....might be time to start looking for another dealership.

No problem.  Once again, a dealership giving bogus information because they're to damn lazy to do a little research for a customer.

I spent longer typing it than it took me to find it on the Harley website. :nixweiss:

Your right, the bad part is I was there at the counter wallet out ready to buy them. I would have installed them myself but still they didn't give a damn. By the way it was pouring down rain and I was the only customer in the place not like they had a crowd.

Hourly emplyees that have no iron in the fire.  They'll take home the same pay for that day.  :nixweiss:

The owner was in on it too or should I say previous owner, he sold the business but stayed on to run it.

Here is a crazy one for you. The folks working the counters all get paid spiffs(commisions) on their sales. All service advisors also get spiffs (commisions). This is the way my local Harley does it as well as every dealership I have ever visited. I have visited a bunch too. You would think a person would want to find a part for you to buy so they could make more money. Crazy world... I am too old I guess. I am from a time when we believed in working for a living. It seems these days the concern is just getting by with as little work as possible.

This is the same dealership (where I bought the bike) that told me the passenger foot boards weren't adjustable when I asked them to move them back a few inches to stop hitting my calves when I back up. Of course they are fully adjustable. Rolled them back myself in ten minutes.
I won't go back to that dealership. Don't know if others are any better. I may buy the bars and change them out myself.

These are the kinds of storys that give dealerships a black eye.  Then a newbie (one that doesn't have years of experience with dealerships) comes along and asks why we "hate" dealerships.  Not a hate thing....just that they've burned the "trust" thing to many times.  JMHO
