took mine out for a ride thursday, 50 degrees. had 223 miles when I started. after ridin about 15 miles, stopped to see a friend. while tryin to find N, the bike started lurchin. clutch was all the way in,  finally had to hit shutoff. let set about 15 min. and decided to head for dealer.  GOOD CHOICE.  about 15 miles down road, got stuck at light behind pickup. bike started lurchin big time. shut it off quick before I hit something. dealer only 1 mile with only 1 more light. made it.  service took it right in.hyd. clutch real low on fluid, next question was were did it go. fitting on tranny loose, right behind exh.... they bled it and finally got a tool in to tighten it. obviously loose from factory.at that point had 250 on it.

when you pick yours up,,, might want dealer to look for this. if weather would have kept me from gettin some ridin in, I wouldn't have found this til Daytona.  lots more traffic there. it could have been bad.

My wife's did the same thing on Interstate 79. Could not activate clutch when she stoped just killed engine. My dealer reported to Moco that he has has 2 07 CVO fail in same manner. They said they never have heard of any issues. BS now your's is a least 2 besides wifes from this site that has had clutch hose come loose at tranny. Be careful DOT4 eats paint. The clutch hose has turned nice and milky white also. Dealer has ordered a new hose, has not come in yet.  [smiley=soapbox.gif]

Hi,  I reported this problem last october.  My bike got so bad that there was no clutch.  I whould have to wait for all cars to move out and then I would start it in gear and get to the dealer.  The hydrolic clutch fluid leaks out where the line screws into the transmission.  You can tighten all you want but it will keep leaking.  check it with your finger anrond the threads where it screws into the tranny. Finally found that factory left out an o ring  in the fitting that screws into the tranny.  Problem solved.

I had a similar leak develop on my SEEG on the bleeder screw on the hydraulic clutch side cover when I first got my bike. Started noticing a wet spot (couple of drops) under bike after it was parked and after inspection found a wet spot around the bleeder screw. Tried tightened it down w/o any luck, and took it back to the dealer. They put some Teflon tape on the threads of that bleeder screw and to this day I haven't had any more problems. Makes me wonder now if there should have been an O-ring on that screw or in the seat of the screw that was missing. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Maybe this is related... I have a new SERK but with only 40 miles on... THANKS TO A LITTLE SNOW HERE IN COLORADO.

But in the few miles I have... noticed when I have the clutch fully engaged and click it in to 1st gear the bike wants to move forward.  No lurching, just a slight smooth drift forwards, as if the clutch isn't fully keeping the tranny disengaged.  With my feet I can keep the bike in place, but lift the feet and the bike moves forwards very slowly.  Need to go by the dealer for a warranty seat swap soon anyway, and will have it looked at but thought I'd ask if any ideas.  Seems fine everywhere else though finding neutral while stopped is not easy... only while moving.

Sorry to hear about that Dennis. Is it just the looseness and that it then needing bleeding? Does it feel right now? You've been riding a long time. Do you like it better than a cable-operated? Between the on-off engagement and these leaks, what's the benefit of these hydraulic set-ups? I hope the only benefit's not just more chrome on the bike. Something else to deal with now. Hey Jerry, you got the PNs for the trans clutch cover parts you need to convert to a cable actuated clutch w/ Braided SS Clutch Cable and chrome clutch bracket? What's next? I've learned the hard way to always have the dealer do a extra check on clutch and brake mechanisms before picking up a new bike. Way back when, had a clutch lever come apart on me at 30 mph on a brand new bike(not a HD)! By the way, all you SERK3 owners watch that LED gas gauge. Dealer told me a ton of "fuel sending units" are going bad which causes your gauge to read empty all the time. Not critical, just annoying QC on a $35k bike. My part has been on backorder at the MoCo for a month now!

I think we need to start a thread that only lists the problems that have been encountered without all the other commentary.  That way we have a central repository we can refer to and know what to look out for.

I like the hyd. clutch.  just the bleeder screw was loose,  at least thats what they found.  I will be checking the lines going to it constantly.  also before you go anywhere, just look at the clutch fluid reservoir and make sure you can see fluid in the glass.  mine was clear.
the bleeder is on the tranny cover, behind the exhaust.  so it was not easy for the dealer to tighten.

I think you are right rb. This kind of stuff really gets my goat, $38k and we just seem to have a list of faults that we are expected to deal with. My bike is here in another 7 weeks and it makes me wonder if I should bother when I have a 1550'd Heritage Softail which runs like a dream and never gives me any grief.
