Recommendation for RAZOR Tour Pak
« on: April 05, 2015, 09:24:09 AM »

I am wanting to buy a RAZOR/PANCAKE (not chopped) tour pak for my SG and have painted to match. The HD unit is rather expensive. Has anyone bought/found a nice aftermarket unit that is good quality and looks good after painted?
Any recommendation is appreciated.

Look for a used one and have Joe @ Xtreme Dimensions paint it. He's close to you.

I am also looking for a razor tour pack. Can anyone out there help me with a good product? Also is there a bracket the will move the pack back a few inches for more room for my passenger? I am also looking for a good custom backrest that will go on a razor tour pack any ideas?

Thank you

I bought a Razor tour pak to use on my Road King.  Got an aftermarket unit from a place called The Fairing Factory.  It was outstanding.  Pre-drilled holes that were spot on accurate.  Could be supplied with or without hardware.  I bought "kit" offering from their eBay account that included the tour pak, lid gasket, mount plate and the 2014 and newer tour pak hardware.  Pretty sure the whole package was bought for about $300 a couple years ago.

Good quality ABS with great shape and fit.  The painter (who is a picky bitch [me too]) said it was a fine piece to prep and paint.

You can see some of the work done with the fairing as I did it's fit work and the paint work was done starting here:

Love the MVX gauge.  It is a really nice piece.

There was some question regarding the spoiler.  Some said the older model spoilers would not fit the newer tour paks.  Since the tour pak itself was aftermarket there was also the question of it would be in fact be the same shape as a stock piece might be.  I finally just said to hell with it and gave it a short.  Bought the spoiler and it fit fine.  Marked and made a few mounting holes and, voila, good to go.

The MVX gauges for a Glide are very nice.  Know of two bikes with them installed and did the install on one of them.  On an Electra Glide especially it's a simple swap.  There is a small ancillary harness that has to daisy chain across all the gauges.  Bringing that down to the Road Glide's pod is just a little extra to do compared to an Electra Glide.

Spoiler I just bought a used stock piece on eBay. Someone's takeoff that was scratched up.  I'd started to buy a new one then got lucky right at the end and found the used one.  Someone all but giving it away due to ugliness and I was repainting anyway.

There are lots of backrests available.  Factory and aftermarket.  I'd look for something similar; especially if you're planning on have something to sewn to match your seat.  On eBay there are some sellers who are bundling aftermarket backrests with the Fairing Factory tour paks.

How tall is your tour pack? I have seen them at 5.5", 7", 9" and 11".... I found these spoilers on eBay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Wing-Spoiler-For-Razor-Pizza-Box-Tour-Pack-Pak/292233186657?hash=item440a748d61:g:pYoAAOSw8DJaA1yS&vxp=mtr

https://www.ebay.com/itm/97-13-Touring-Harley-Davidson-Tour-Pak-Spoiler-Kit-Crystal-Copper-53149-08CRR/222809697067?hash=item33e07e2b2b:g:2h4AAOSwJ0xaaSUo&vxp=mtr

I do not want a LED brake light on the spoiler...

Spoiler I used is the stock type spoiler in your second link.  I wanted the extra light up high center in the eyes of anyone behind me.  The tour pak I got from it's outside bottom to the highest point of its top is just under 10".  So very likely what they're describing as the 9" razor tour pak.
