Hit the 70k mark.
« on: April 07, 2015, 09:40:09 PM »

My 2010 cvo ultra hit the 70k mark and my motor started squeaking. LOL Sounded like the lifters and I was right. The bearings were wore out and the rollers had flat spots on them bad. Dealer said there was no metal in the case so ESP thru in a new set and away I go. Motor has never been apart until this. I am hoping to get this motor to 100k this year. Wish me luck!!!!!!  :orange:

Lots of areas for stuff to hide, and without splitting cases dont know how they can make that claim, but with 70000 and wanting to go tom100000, i would just chance it myself, and cut open your oil filter to look for stuff.

I know, I don't know how they checked it out. They didn't even drain the oil and change it. They said ESP would not pay for that. Just have to ride it and see where it all goes from here.

I made 70,000 and the same stuff broke. I also put in a compensator and belt. Can't believe how much better it is. You don't realize how much power you are loosing as the miles tick on...

That is just plain wrong.....wrong as in they should have AT LEAST drained the contaminated oil out of the bike for you - even if the dealer had to absorb the cost. Maybe things have changed but when my lifters went bad the ESP not only covered the new cams, lifters, oil pump ect. They also covered the removal and cleaning of the oil pan.

I think you now have a bunch of very fine metallic particles "polishing" all engine's the internal surfaces.

Having said that personally I would change the oil and filter now before riding the bike anymore, no really, stop reading and go change the oil and filter!

I only have 30k on my 2011. Reading different posts about catastrophic failures was beginning to worry me. I think I'll go at least 50k and then change my lifters. Glad you bought a bike to really ride. Retiring in a couple of months and planning some nice long trips.

Did the original cam chain tensioners make it to 70k miles too or were they previously replaced? I also agree with phato1, they should have done that no matter who had to eat the cost ... even if you had to pay for that. Did they even ask you to change it and clean it if you footed the bill for that part?
