The only thing I'm going to add to this thread is that I have politely refused all offers and attempts to sell me extended service agreements for as long as they have been in existence (that's a long time), and I can count on the fingers of one hand (and have a few left over) the number of times I had a failure that would have actually been covered if I had bought the ESP. One time was an electronic module for a clothes dryer, and the amount for the repair was about what they wanted initially for the ESP, so that one was a wash. The other one was an intake manifold seal on a Ford Explorer. I bought new seals for the two piece intake manifold and replaced them myself, which cost a tiny fraction of what the price was for an ESP on that product. I can safely say I am tens of thousands of dollars to the good doing it my way, whereas the folks who just automatically sign up for every ESP they're offered are on the flipside of that statement. Yes, a tiny percentage may have come out ahead, especially people who buy seriously flawed products like Harley's, but the vast majority come in on the losing side. That's a fact of life, and if it wasn't then no one would be selling these insurance policies since they would be losing money as fast as Washington can print it.
