Harley Jackets
« on: April 11, 2015, 09:19:20 AM »

I've got A Scream'n Eagle jacket, and the plastic or composite zipper seems to give me a sticking problem every so often. What do you guys use to keep the zipper moving freely. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
                             Thanks Jonnierock

Silicon spray. When you spray it on zip run zip up and down a couple of times then wipe the zip with a clean cloth.

Either of the solutions above should help.  I've not sprayed mine directly but instead spray it on a rag heavily and then run the rag up and down the zipper.  Didn't want to get the silicone lubricant spray on the leather.

If worse comes to worse you can always have the zipper replaced with a metal zipper at an alterations shop.

We have used a bar of Ivory soap in the past, rub on zipper teeth, should work well.

I use a birthday cake candle the same way. Works great.

Wax is applied to zippers during the last phase of the manufacturing process so it should work well.

If you use non Harley lubricant you may void your zipper warranty :huepfenlol2:

The candle I used has the Bar & Shield on it, so I'm good to go.

its a zipper.  doesn't matter if it was made in usa or timbuktu, it's gonna suffer from drag eventually.  using wax, soap, silicon, etc. will work on them all. i'm sure that many 'american' made jackets use chinese zippers...  btw, ykk zippers, generally known as one of the best, are made in 39 different countries, china being one of them.
