so ever since i bought my roman gold cvo, i always thought that it would look better with a brown seat vs the black/grey seat that it comes with. the wife decided that she liked the cvo seat and wanted one for her bike, so i gave her my black one and ordered the brown one (the one that comes on the 2012 maple roadglide).
so i get the seat in, and damn skippy, i think it looks pretty good with the gold. but now, the chopped tourpak backrest sticks out like a sore thumb, being black and all. wife says, 'no problem, we can get some naugahyde and i'll just recover it'. well, easier said than done. not that covering it is all that hard, but matching the color is like looking for a pin in a stack of pins.... so being the great wife that she is, she is in looking on a bunch of internet sites for the matching backrest. first, i try to see if my favorite hd discounter can hook me up with one. nope, sorry, that part is obsolete, we can't order it anymore. so the wife finds one, on sale no less in california. call them up, and.......... shot down in flames. they don't have it either. plus, it's obsolete, blah, blah, blah......
okay, so now i'm getting kinda frustrated. 2012 and it's obsolete already? whats up with that? but, she finds one listed again, and calls them up. now, they don't have it either, but. he does show that there are 2 dealers in the us (and maybe a couple in england) that have one in stock. she gets both numbers, gives the first one a call, and................ no joy. it's gone.
thinking now that this is really gonna suck, she calls the second one. lo and behold, they actually have it in stock! and he gives us a 10% discount to boot! 3 days later, here it is on my porch. and not long after that, installed....
i think it looks pretty good myself. and i got the last one in stock anywhere in the us.
that deserves a dancing pickle....
