Limited lowered with HD air assisted rear shocks
« on: April 19, 2015, 03:34:35 PM »

Lowered the front and rear with HD lowering kits, premium ride in the front and stock replacements (air assisted) but shorter in the back. Ride is definitely rougher now than stock. I understand theirs less travel now, but its still rougher even on small bumps that the suspension only moves a little. Going to play with air pressure in the shock but don't think that going to make a big enough difference. Any ideas?

When you go to the 12" rear air shocks, it becomes critical that you get the preload (air pressure) right.  The first mistake I see people make is to run lower air pressure thinking that will give a softer ride.  What it really does is let the shock bottom out way too easily, thus the rougher than expected ride.  The 12" shock will never ride as good as the full size shock, but if it's beating you up even on small road irregularities, try raising the air pressure until the shocks quit bottoming.

It doesn't seem to bottom out. Its just a more firm or rough over small road bumps. I was going to try less air but makes sense to try more first. Thanks Jerry
