Trucks?......Depends on what you want to do with it. If you need to pull 8K, you need at least a 3/4 ton.... a half ton or an Avalanche just ain't
If you need a "Dude Truck", any of them will do.
If you want dependability and power to "gitterdone", Dodge is the only way to go.
Totally Objective -- I have been driving 3/4 & 1 ton trucks for the last 14 years. I have personally had two Ford PowerStrokes >> both were good trucks - I had no complaints. Late in 03 I sold my 1999 F-350 and bought a 2004 Dodge 3500. Trust me, the Dodge will "gitterdone". Better on fuel - up to 21 mpg and pulls much better.
I pull a 14K toyhauler - with the Ford, I was averaging 11 mpg. With the Dodge, I average 13. In the mountains, the Dodge really shines >> the Ford would down-shift much more often that the Dodge.
Comfort: In the past, Ford and Chev had Dodge beat on comfort/plushness. Not anymore, go check out the new Dodges.
I have heard a lot about the Allison Trans. that Chev has. Now Dodge has a 6-speed auto that seems to be bullet-proof and pulls like there is no tomorrow. And, the Cummins engine is time tested and proven to be strong and long lasting.
I trade trucks every five years (it is a tax thing). Unless something happens in the next year, there is no question about what I will be buying >>> Dodge.
