Unable to Shift (up or down)
« on: April 27, 2015, 10:55:06 AM »

Anyone experience this issue?  On the way to work this morning, 200 miles from my front door, 5 miles from work - I was unable to shift from 5th to 6th gear, then coming to a stoplight, I was unable to upshift to 2nd gear.  As it was 0500 in the morning, I figured I'd wait until day light to investigate the issue.

Any ideas what might be causing this issue?

Check the pinch bolts where the foot lever(s) attach to the shaft, and also the bolt for the lever that actually attaches to the shift shaft from the transmission.  It has been a fairly common problem over the years for the attachment at the trans shift shaft to come loose and strip the splines.  Out of sight behind the primary, thus often neglected in checks of bolt security.

Jerry - I want to say out loud,   "You are the man!"  Truly appreciate your technical expertise and responsiveness yesterday to my dilemma.  Problem solved.  Turned out the be the shift lever and shift shaft were both stripped.  Had both replaced...back on the road again!

Thank you so very much.
