Just a "small" weekend project
« on: May 03, 2015, 08:37:44 AM »

Started step 1 in building a gabled roof over my patio. 34' x 18'. Tired of baking in the sun.

Next step is getting the trusses ordered and set.

It's looking like a great place to polish a CVO Streetglide!

and when you're not polisihing the bike but just relaxing in the summer time.....misters mounted along the roofline at the outside edge (especially the edges that have direct sun)  will keep the patio cooler and will also help to minamize the flying insects.  Make sure you get the misters with the brass nozzels....the plastic nozzels are junk.  Oh yea....an an in line water filter (like you use behind your refer) will help keep the nozzels free of sediment and calcium deposits.  :2vrolijk_21:

Keep us posted on your progress.

Stainless spray nozzles like used at a dairy or food processing work great!      :2vrolijk_21:

It's horribly humid here in St. Louis during the summer and the misters aren't as effective as they are in drier climates. But there will be a couple of ceiling fans to keep the air moving.

Right now it's so darn hot you don't even want to use the patio.

Over the past 20 years (this house and my last) I've been wanting to build this but time always got in the way. A few weeks ago while drinking a couple of cold ones my buddy says "let's build it". So here we go.

Step 2: Finally had the time to set the trusses and get it sheeted this weekend. Roofing is almost done.

Dang! This is too much work for a 52 year old salesman.  ;D

Looks just fine. I see many hours of enjoyment coming out of this project. Continue, it's almost finished-----isn't it?

Soffits and fascia, gutters, siding, wiring, ceiling, cleaning up the mess and then some dirt work to fix the ruts from the crane.
