Finally did it/Changed Mufflers
« on: May 11, 2015, 12:26:20 AM »

I got this CVO in October and told myself leave it alone, keep it stock, don't mess with it etc.
I have had in my shed another set of CVO Mufflers I had already changed out the cores to 2 inch Fulsac. These were on my ElectraGlide before I went to a True Dual system, which was a mistake in itself as I always thought the Stock decated headpipe with 2 inch cores performed better than that True Dual system.
Anyway I got them out, cleaned them up and put them on my CVO. I had forgotten how nice these mufflers sound and they have a real nice deep tone behind this 110 motor. I do not plan to decat this headpipe but I still have the decatted pipe from my 09.
In some of my reading I found the newer CVO mufflers are so packed with material they are  actually robbing torque. Curious if I will notice any difference. It sure seemed like I removed a choke collar from it when I fired it up.
These cans also had the Black and chrome contrast tips on them. I was going to change them to the smooth chrome but the contrast actually looks good

Just a note, I believe the O2 sensors were a different size and location on the 09's.  May have to add O2 bungs down at the collector to reuse the pipe. I looked at doing this on my '11 but ended up buying a FuelMoto pipe which had both sets of O2 bungs.

Yes I know this. It will also require a Tuner if I decide to go that route. I doubt I will

I'm planning a similar upgrade. I ordered the Fullsac 2" cores but plan to keep the stock head pipe. Heat hasn't been an issue. I bought the bike in March so haven't rode it in summer weather yet.

I've ridden it to work the last couple days. There is a slight but noticeable difference in Torque and throttle response and I love the sound. Very deep and throaty. As far as heat goes. This bike is not near as hot as my 09 ElectraGlide even when that bike had the Cat removed. I was in 100 plus degree temps last weeken with the stock mufflers

highly recommend you go with at least a de-catted head pipe for better exhaust flow and sound as well as the extreme heat reduction benefit produced by the cat's in stock head pipe ...

Not a great photo. But I think these tips add some character. The chrome tips were kind of boring

X2. The bike will run and breath so much better.
