Good Lord looks like the rotten hide of a dead animal. For the most part customers will never see that so it does not matter to the manufacture.

Your packing look like mine?

Couldn't believe what a lousy job of quality control HD did when they installed the insulation in my 2012 SEUC. The left side was Ok so did the same thing and split up that insulation between both cans.

If you didn't order the insulation mesh from Fulsac you should. Makes everything go back clean and keeps the packing where it should be.

That kind of makes sense to me.  If you have the stock header pipe, even with the CAT removed, the right side exhaust will pass a ton more exhaust gasses and heat than the left side muffler ever sees.  I can even hear the difference going down the road that the left side is quieter than the right.  Also the baffle has a discharge port that blows out into the packing and that's probably what made the hole in the insulation.

I had my mufflers off while on my lift table and started it up to circulate the oil prior to my oil change.  I had the rear wheel off to do the rear swingarm mod for the 30t sprocket upgrade.  I did have the wheel and belt back on, just didn't have the mufflers back on yet and wanted to hear what straight pipe sounded like on my bike.

While running I could feel a big difference between the two.  I'm sure that's whey Fullsac and others have the full "round" crossover pipe as part of their kits.

I think the Fullsac baffles would be a lot less disruptive on the packing as they are perforated rather than just large ports like the stock baffles.

Your looks much better than mine. I couldn't even roll out the shredded remains like you can. It was like they caught a piece of insulation when they were putting in the core to be welded in. I tried to dig out as much as I could but couldn't get it all that was jammed up between the inlet pipe and outer shell. I can't see the heat doing that much damage when I have a 2014 that I purchased mid riding season, but in full disclosure I was able to ride fairly consistently until mid January due to the lack of snow and ice.

Holy crap, that looks like a bear rug with one too many shotgun holes in it. How did they even fit that much into the cans?

It was packed in there tight and filled the whole space. Can see why Steve at Fullsac recommends cutting it in half. Fortunately the left side was in good shape so had enough to do both mufflers.

Defiantly think the Fullsac screens are worth it. Hold the insulation in nice and tight to the outer walls. Nice practical addition! :2vrolijk_21:

You are right Doc but that doesn't make it right. Also because it bunched up on one end, wasn't doing its job properly which gets an "F" as far as I'm concerned. Is it a big deal? No but I guarantee you it wouldn't happen with a German or Metric bike manufacturer.

They are worth it. I just put them in along with one wrap around of 1/4" ebay material, and because of the ability to compress the screens, I didn't need to attach the material to the screen, and managed to slide them in without bunching up the material.

Now I understand what you guys have been talking about: I installed Fullsac 2" baffles in my stock mufflers this morning and went on a short ride. Note, I replaced my stock mufflers a couple days after I brought this bike home with V&H Hi Output with carbon fiber end caps. I liked the look of the stock mufflers but thought the V&H with carbon fiber treatment complimented all the carbon fiber on the bike. However, the sound of the Fullsac/stock mufflers with no decal popping made the decision to keep them and put the V&H on a shelf an easy one.

From one very happy biker!

I used a Makita GD0601 1/4-Inch Die Grinder and Astro Pneumatic SA-3: Cylindrical shape 3/8" x 3/4" bit. This bit was part of a set (Astro Pneumatic 2181 Double Cut Carbide Rotary Burr Set with 1/4-Inch Shank). I bought both from Amazon. This combo tore through the weld very fast, so if you use this tool combo be very careful or you'll grind through the muffler wall.

There are less costly alternatives but I've wanted an electric die grinder for several years so for me this grinder and bits were a good investment.
