Note that the procedure to force the fans to run is not a complete test. Mine both ran fine when I forced them on. But, my right one was "lazy" and according to my dealer's tests failed, so they ordered a replacement and changed it. The new one definitely runs more than the old one did, so something was wrong or different. I find it hard to believe as it seems to me it runs when it is told to, or it doesn't run at all, not intermittently and when forced on. Still confused about that, but now knowing that I can play with the on/off settings makes me happy and curious. Maybe what I was seeing was just the 4 degree difference in the on temps, but that doesn't explain my dealer replacing it unless he knows as little as we do. Of course, to do this properly, we need a coolant temp gauge.

When they said it was "lazy", I'll bet you that's exactly what they thought, that both should turn on together.  And of course we untrained civilians know more about the product than the dealers, once again.  It is so sad that the typical dealership and typical service tech cares so little about what they do that they can't read the simple information Harley provides to them, much less attend the new model training sessions.

OK, I need to apologize and correct some bad information I provided in this thread.  For whatever reason, my brain obviously hiccupped and I indicated the normal fan strategy from Harley was to stagger the fans, with the left coming on before the right.  That is not true.  The strategy Harley uses is for both fans to turn on at the same time.  The other strategy, whereby the left fan comes on at one coolant temp and the right fan only comes on if the coolant temp rises to a second higher level, is the strategy the folks at TTS use.

Stealth, the reason your fans come on the way they do is that you're running a TTS calibration.  I assume the dealership folks didn't realize that and expected the fans to both come on at the same time, thus their "lazy" comment.

I am about to get the stainless Fulsac DX headers and they recommended the TTS turner. This gives me another reason to get the TTS turner over another.  Thanks for all the information as always!
