My brand new Cargo Mate 7X12 double axle with electric brakes will be salvaged by the insurance company because of hail damage.  It's sitting here at my house until they come pick it up.  You can probably get it for a great price if anyone is interested.

Another vote for tandem axles. There are various (very good) reasons having to do with GVW, braking, stability, weight distribution, yada yada yada.

The REAL REASON is what happens when you have a flat.

The difference in safety is #1. Typically a flat is a non-event with a tandem...meaning that you might not notice it until you're stopped for gas. You'll have to make a point to be vigilant.
A single with a flat can be very ugly; it will definitely be NOTICED; it will force you to stop and will likely cause you to be working on it on the shoulder, which is incredibly dangerous.
A single might end up *left* on the road while you go for help or a tire.
A tandem, well, you just drive to a convenient place to change it (WalMart parking lot is popular) or the tire store.
Tandem, always a tandem, unless it's just for local use.

I have a 7X14 V nose Haulmark Lowhauler and with the bikes staggered there is plenty of room.
The first bike in is the drivers side then second is the passengers side. The V nose helps a lot with room and mileage.
A question not asked but very important is that using a low hauler style trailer also help on fuel mileage.
In some subdivisions there are rules about keeping trailers on your property. The low haulers fit in the garage with a standard 7' door.

May be the angle the picture was taken but that doesn't look like a V-nose to me

Look at the aluminum in the center, its a V nose according to what I see.

I have a 2004,  Hallmark  6x12 low hauler with brand new mag wheels and tires.  Took it in on a trade, never use it other than to keep a couple Bushtec in it.   Probably go in to put it up for sale soon, be lucky to pull $2,500.00 out of it.

Had many enclosed trailers, get tired of seeing them sit and away they go.
I could see that the chrome vertical strip on the right looked a little off but couldn't tell on the aluminum if it was actually a "V-nose"... looking at the interior picture again it does appear that that the chrome vertical strip is centered inside and a little deeper which would lead you to believe it is a "V-nose".

Thanks Mikey. I'm going to pass.

Thanks all for the information.

Jesse
Jesse, wise decision... I had a 7X12 tandem axle Haulmark Low Hauler before and found that you can get a good deal if you pick it up directly from the factory. Research the size/brand trailer you want and then find out if there is a factory near you that you can pick it up directly from... could save some $$$ that way.

"Real" bikers don't need a trailer ... unless it's the kind hooked to the hitch on your bike!  :P
