First CVO - Tranny issue or me?
« on: May 26, 2015, 06:08:58 PM »

First post.

Just rolled over 1300 miles on my 2015 RGU CVO.  On a couple of occasions, the transmission would not go down into first as I slowed down to a stop.  Anyone experience this or just me?

Thanks for the feedback.

Is this after you're stopped?  It's much easier to down shift while still rolling.

It could be that I was stopped.  I'm going to pay more attention on my next ride.  Usually I get it in first while still rolling.  First gear sounds a bit different to me, so I know I'm set to roll off the line.

Another thing, every had issues finding neutral with the biked parked?  Most times the neutral light comes on but on occasion it doesn't.

New bikes (or just bikes that are new to you) can be difficult to find first when stopped or find neutral on them.  As the miles pass by and you learn the uniqueness of your bike I'm confident it'll all become easier for you....especially now that you're aware of it.

It's when you're in a hurry (at a stop light that just turned green, etc.) that it'll get really trying for you.  Just remember to remain patient for that few more seconds, you'll get it.  :2vrolijk_21:

JCZ is right. Also, have you done your 1,000 mile oil service? I ask because ---for me  I always drain the tranny and primary as well.

If you do it warm you will be surprised at how much grit comes out. Let it drain for awhile and then refill with your favorite oil.  The transmission shifts smoother, you can find neutral and the neutral light works as it should. The same with the clutch. It works smoother and is easier to use.

RIDE ON as the famous member here says.

Mine does this sometimes.  I just ease out of the clutch a little while pushing down on the shift lever and it slides in.  Neutral has never been an issue.

Mine has popped out of first on occasion.
You know, roll on the throttle then back off to shift or stop and "POP" .... out of gear with grinding. Pull in the clutch and all goes quiet again. Good thing it is still under warranty.

Sometimes silent going into first, other times goes in with a bang.

For me, Harley is a disappointment!
Did AMF buy them back?
