Don,
Thank you for the inspiration to go back out and stick something else in a different hole
. This time I put on my glasses and found a blown fuse. Darn things all looked good with no glasses on yesterday. I figured once I cooled down from my Olympic bike push and got a decent nights sleep things would shape up in the morning. Damn glad they did. Now I still need to get a cruise switch. Anyone ever solder the wires to the old ones opposed to pulling new ones through the bars?
I did and it is a bit of a pain. I replaced a pair of the switches on the left bar and one of the switches came with a bunch of wire...but the other with just about 4". The biggest difficulty is that once you are done with the splicing, you now have to make it all fit inside the housing.
FIRST: Have a camera ready and get pics of how the wires were routed and secured inside the housings
BEFORE you pull them out.
The first time, you'll reach the point of wishing that you had made each of your splices much much smaller/ shorter.
Keep that in mind from the start and make them as compact as you possibly can.
If your replacement switch comes with the long leads, you'll be way ahead of the game to pull the wires through the bars and splice in the fairing area.
Pulling the wires is not difficult and you don't have to pull the bars to do it.
