Power Vision map question chugging & bucking
« on: June 02, 2015, 09:35:58 AM »

I have 2014 limited with high flow air cleaner S&S power pipe and thunderheader slip-ons.

I am finding that when I remove my hand from the throttle and slow down at around 1500 and as it gets lower it starts to chug & buck. As I down shift and glide slower it gets worse. When just going slow in 1st gear I have to keep on the throttle so it doesn't start to chug & buck. Any ideas, is the issue to much fuel on decal, to much timing, or not enough fuel. Got fuelmoto working on it but thought there would be someone here that could shed some light,

Thanx
Bub

O2 sensors on the wrong pipes?  That would definitely do what you're describing.

ok I will check o2 sensors but arn't they both the same and can I just switch the connectors. Now you got me thinking I hope I don't have to take the pipe off. Can anyone tell me which is which? I may have switch them when I put the pipe on.

Here is the map fuelmoto did some work on it but is still there. It won't let me upload the pvt file.

The gray O2 sensor goes on the front pipe, black on the back.  You can do it with the pipes installed it just takes some patience.  You will have to take the heat shield off.

Mine does this as well. I was under the impression that the low RPMs just didn't do well when going slow like that. Mine is all stock except the mufflers. Every once in awhile I will hear her backfire as well when I am slowing down. I assumed the stock MAP wasn't perfect. I am planning on putting the Fulsac DX on and using the TTS to tune it. I had hopes this would improve both of these little issues as well.

Best advice is to take it to your local tuner and let them work it out... it could also be a bad O2 sensor... or just a bad tune

Anything lower then 2000 RPMs isn't good for the bike anyways. I never get to 1500 rpm unless it's idling.

If the bike is tuned properly for low speed running, you should be able to let it coast down nearly to idle speed.  I think the sad fact is that a lot of tuners don't spend any time on the range between idle and 2000 rpm, so even a canned map or a full tune may still have the same settings the stock bike had.  My advice, find a good professional tuner and tell him you want it tuned from idle up for the smoothest performance.  Instead of just looking at those wide open throttle charts used for bragging rights, look at the charts for part throttle operation at various rpms.

Btw, my older bike had the same issues you guys are complaining about on your late models, both stock and after a supposed tune by the local Power Commander Master Tuning Center (what a joke that was).  After I spent a lot of trial and error time tweaking the low speed fuel settings, I can now putt around the neighborhood at 1500 rpm with nary a stumble or grumble, and coast down in top gear to less than 1500 rpm also with nary a stumble.  In other words, it can be done.
