2014 Road King CVO and TTS issues
« on: June 05, 2015, 06:14:36 PM »

I have a 2014 Road King CVO that I just bought a Fulsac DX pipe and a TTS tuner for. I have the pipe installed, it was easy. I installed all the software and did all the updates as required. Master Tune2 HD will get the ECM data but when I try to save it I get an error, HDLAN Loader Install Failed. I have talked to Steve Cole as well as emailed back and forth with him. He thinks the problem may be something on the CAN bus causing the loader to fail. He thought maybe it is an aftermarket part causing the problem, but the bike is stock. Has anyone here used TTS software and hardware on a Road King CVO and had it work right, or figured it out if it did not work?

I've tuned many 14 CVOs without issues. Not sure how you are trying to save the data. Can you explain the procedure you have used?

Per the TTS instructions I am opening the software and plugging in the hardware. The first thing they have you do is what they call get the ECM data. This communicates with the ECM and gets the VIN and the ID. By way of getting them I know the PC has a connection with the ECM through the USB to serial converter. The converter I am using is the on sent by TTS. Next the instructions tell you to select "Save the ECM data" and click the button to start the process. It then pulls the current configuration from the ECM and stores it on the PC where you selected. What is happening, I am told is the first five seconds the software establishes communication with the ECM through the CAN bus and asks everything else on the network to stop. Then it pulls the data from the ECM and after it does that it allows the other devices on the network to start up again. Per TTS, it seems that when the software asks the other devices on the network to stop, something is not stopping. When this happens the software sets an error, HDLAN Loader Install Failed, err=-2Rx .

Considering all this I am wonder if anyone else has had the same thing happen and if so how did you get around it? My personal feeling is it may not be a problem in the bike, but a problem with the USB to serial converter.
