Time to change tires
« on: June 08, 2015, 09:30:42 AM »

Hey all, I have a FLHRSE4 and FLSTFSE2.... both need rear tires.  I got quotes from the HD dealer.... $550+ EACH....

I can buy the tires from CanadaMotorcycle.com for around $250 EACH....  Anyone know how much time it should take to change them out?  Seems to me I am getting jammed because at the shop rate of $90 per hour this would equate to 3 hours each approximately.

Thanks and cheers,

You seriously need to find an indy.

The Harley dealer is by no means the only place to buy tires OR to have them installed.

I'd estimate aprox. one to one and a half hrs. per bike.

Harley's own labor time standards call for 0.6 hours for the front, and 0.8 hours for the rear.  That includes balance.

Yikes - that is rape.  I have an independent tire guy that comes right to my garage and is very reasonable.  One of our local dealers started and install free with tire purchase, and pretty much everyone will match it in the area.  Call around.

I am planning on doing my own tire changes... does not look that difficult to do with the right tools... (last famous words  :huepfenlol2: )...

I have subscribed to that logic no longer. It is now worth every penny to me not to have to that anymore. That just plain tuckers me out anymore.

I just have to try it... working on the bike is therapeutical for me... even if after the first tire change I just go. "f*it, I will pay someone to do it"  it will be a cool experience for me.  I ordered new wheels and tires for my 48, so we will see how that goes  :nixweiss:

I sure hope they kiss their customers when they leave at that price.  All I can say is I would not recommend that place to anyone.  Not even to purchase a bike.

I believe, but don't know for certain, that GregMan is in Canada.  That will definitely affect his prices when compared to those in the USA.

GregMan, how about updating your profile with your location (country) so we will know for sure.

Hi Jerry,

My battery chit the bed today (oem battery 12 CVOSG). Can you recommend a good replacement? Looking at a Throttle X on Amazon (prime member). Has good reviews. Asking because I value your input.

Thanks,

Jesse
