Harley Davidson Advisory Committee
« on: June 10, 2015, 08:52:05 PM »

I was wondering if any of the members are part of the HD Customer Advisory Committee. If so, or if you have been one in the past or know anything about it, I would be very interested to know your opinion.

Thanks in advance.

I just did the latest survey a few hours ago. Kind of a joke but there are places to leave comments. I've been studying GRC for a few years now and gave them an earful,,,, which will probably get sent straight to the spam folder ::)

I also just completed the survey. I made sure to let them know I thought their stock pipes are too loud and they have way too much chrome on the CVO's! I would prefer more charcoal grey plastic or, as on the new BMW bike, wood! :)

But seriously I do appreciate the fact that they ask us for our opinions. Ok I'll admit it. There is a lot I like about HD as a company.

I also have been a member for years.  They might use the info, but I don't see much that it is used for.  Maybe they should ask what they should ask about...

It seems I may be in the minority.....
I find the Advisory Panel interesting. Yes, I'm on the list and I find the insight sometimes provided by the survey questions into what new products, packaging or promotions the motor company is thinking of introducing kinda neat. They will often ask you about recent purchases or planned ones. They send you an email link to their survey about every other month on average.
I just completed this months and a section of it dealt with your experiences at dealerships when having service work done. They provided a section for you to add comments and/or explain your responses - and I did, espousing the virtues of Bumpus HD an letting the survey folks know that the dealer deserved recognition for their excellent service and friendly and knowledgeable staff, and admonishing the HD that they should also "counsel" any dealerships with negative feedback or reviews....
Actually I often do put my opinion in the comment boxes but perhaps they ignore my comments...

My only real complaint is they will tell you that the surveys they send you will only take you "approximately 15 minutes" to complete and they often take longer..

Yep, I have been doing the surveys for several years now.  Did this one yesterday.  There was one asking about CVO colors.  I hammered them on the repeat colors like the 11 and 15 CVO Road glide ultra.  And repeat graphics.

There was one I let them know how I felt about the crappy infotainment system programing.

I do find them interesting.

If they ever ask about the colors, I would strongly suggest that they repeat the eagle graphics on the CVO RG. The best paint scheme for the RG IMO.

I have been a member for along time. I tell them what I think, always have. Occassionally they send out a email showing the results of surveys etc.
I enjoy doing it. Used to get a free hat or something but been awhile now.

This is just my personal belief and may not be the actual truth of the situation

I believe that H-D Inc like GM and Ford, Chrysler, Honda, Toyota etc etc use a third party company to mail out, collect and collate these surveys. As is the case with all surveys, there is a predetermined set of answers the survery company is looking for. The attitude being that their customer is not going to be happy if they (survey company) gives them a set of results that says their product is chit. Therefore the questions are geared toward a specific set of outcomes. The only place you have any flexibility is in the comments section and my guess is it would take several thousand people making the same comment for it to get pass the sorters and colators. In the end, these surveys are mostly so the people a few notches below the Executive suite can tell the big boys what a good job they're doing.

Just my opinion

Well, I like to look at evidence.  I would guess based on this and other HD related forum's comments that quality, choice and color are on a lot of surveys.  So in 2014 after years of these surveys you got the rushmore bikes.  The new radio still has quality issues, there are fewer model choices and the colors are still limited to around 4 unless you buy the 8k color shop tins.

Yeah, that survey's helping.

Been getting these since around '08 when I bought my first CVO.

Do we all get the same survey each month?
