124 finally done
« on: June 12, 2015, 11:45:57 PM »

After blowing up my 120r a couple of months ago and biting the bullet to put in a S&S crate 124, I finally got it back fully tuned (by Bob in Hayward CA who does amazing work) and ready you go. I went for a very short ride yesterday but got to "play a little" today. I wasn't expecting too much of a difference between my 120r and the new 124 but boy was I pleasantly surprised! I couldn't be happier right now after getting on the back roads today and "ringing it neck" a bit!
Of course I hated writing the check, especially because I pulled my usual crazy behavior by doing a bunch of mods while the bike was in the shop, but now that I have paid the bill, I am as fired up as the day I got the bike! I will post up a couple of pics. As you will see, I had S&S powder coat the rocker box and cam covers so I could keep the warranty in tact. Also changed all the hardware out to the polished SS Diamond Engineering 12 pt which looks amazing IMO. No more Hot Toppers thank God!! Alo did the Ultra Cool oil cooler which seems to work great after running it very hard tonight.

We always try to point our west coast folks in the direction of RC Cycles.
We KNOW that it will be tuned correctly.
Bob Lobenburg just tuned one of our hand-built 124"ers for a client from Fresno. :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Hand built isn't the norm in your shop?
OMG you've got assembly droids that can do it all on builds that aren't "special"?
That's awesome!

I "wrung its neck" today to best of my riding abilities for a couple of hours! motor was flat out insane, couldn't be happier with it. Feel like a 55 yr old teenager i was so exited today. I figure I have a 1 year warranty so I am "all in" when I get where I don't have to worry about mr police..

we prefer to build 124"`s (and all other sizes) over crate motors too,can be tailored to the riders riding style a lot better

We, CVOHarley.com have pointed our west coast memebers to Bob for years. Well, actually Jim, from Metal Dragon has pointed everybody to Bob.  Bob is a member here.....has been for awhile, but only as a member and not as a vendor/business.  He plays by the rules.  :2vrolijk_21:
