Extended warranty
« on: June 17, 2015, 05:49:06 PM »

My CVO Breakout is a little over two years old so I am into the ESP now.  Do you think it would be better to find a good independent to do any warranty repairs when needed or still go to Harley?
I have 6,500 miles with no problems, but am planning ahead.

Only Harley will honor the ESP as far as I know.

Not true... there are some independents that can honor ESP's... my independent can and I know hd-dude (Metal Dragon) does/did.

Assuming you have the ESP most of us are familiar with, it's your choice between an independent or a dealer.  Choose the one you want based on what's important to you, whether it's trust in their ability, distance from you, scheduling, or whatever.

Just a note:  ESP is not a warranty, and you don't have the same protections under ESP as you do under a true warranty.  With ESP, they can void your coverage for anything that's stated in the contract; for example, if the contract says "no towing equipment can be installed,"  even a trailer hitch for a flag mount will void coverage.

Its my understanding that your per occurance deductible is $50.00 at a Harley dealer and $100.00 at a qualified repair shop (independent).  Your better off to pay he higher deductable if you have a good shop close by.

This is what I found and if you talk to the Indy...they have in the past given me the $50 deductible.
