Hey all,

I didn't see a more specific forum where I should post this, so I chose the General forum.

I have a Bushtec Turbo +2 that I want to pull behind my 2015 CVO RGU, but am concerned about the electrical installation.  My dealer tells me that the new Harleys don't react well to any additions to the system if they are tapping into the existing wiring.

Bushtec tells me their harness will work on my 2015 and cause no problems, but before I lay down over $400, I need to know if any of you out there have installed their harness on your new bikes?

If so, did you have any problems?  What were they and how did you deal with them?
Also, how did the new harness wire in?  Was it "plug and play" or did you have to buy a Harley adapter for it?
Any comments or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Mine on my 06 and my 09 where plug and play.  Man they sure went up in price since then if they are 400 large now.

I have a 2014 SE Limited pulling a 2+2 and their wiring harness was plug and play on my bike and no problems (knock wood-LOL).  Have their hitch also.

Boatman,
That sounds like good news, as I'm told your '14 and my '15 have very similar electrical systems.
Glad to hear your harness was a simple plug in, and I am guessing you didn't have to spring for the Harley adapter plug in the process?
Thanks for the good news!

Everything I used was from Bushtec.  The wiring harness was one part number and the hitch another.

Bushtec is near Knoxville. I'm going to go by there and buy the hitch and wiring hardness and they will install it there for free. I'm doing that when I go to Maggie Valley.

Yeah, I went to the factory in March of 2007 to pick mine up.  Nice folks and they gave us a tour of the factory and lots of coffee to warm us up while they installed the hitch and harness.  Beautiful country there!
I'd love to get out that way again, but now I have the trailer...all I need is the new hitch and harness for the new bike.  I'm confident I can install both, as this will be the third hitch and harness I've ordered from them over the years for my last 3 touring bikes.  I just need to be sure that with incandescent bulbs on the trailer and with the way the new harness fits to the bike, that the new Harley won't throw a DTC code or worse.
It'd be a sweet trip again, though.  The Smokies in the fall!

I have a 2015 RGUSE and have installed the bush tec harness was a plug and play called bush tec and they told me what harness I needed. They were about the hitch though I took the bush tec hitch off my 2011 RGUSE and bush tec said no way would it fit, it bolted right up. Have not taken a trip with trailer behind this bike yet  (planned on it but stuff happens) have test pulled okay.

Hey Easttnrhino & CahokiaCarl,

Thanks for the info!  I wondered if I should have taken the hitch off my 2011 RGUSE!  I was like Bushtec was with you I guess...I didn't think there was any chance it would fit the '15.  Oh well, you snooze...

I will give Bushtec another call and order the new hitch (sucks to have to buy a new one!) and harness.  The first time I called them I didn't get a warm fuzzy about the harness, so that's why I posted my questions here!

Thanks again for all your replies!

Just wondering, was your 2011 a CVO Road Glide?  IIRC, the Bushtec hitch for CVO RG was different from the hitch for other touring.  2011 CVO RG had 18" rear tire, and regular hitch wouldn't fit with the reduced clearance.

Yes my 2011 was a cvo road glide I bought the hitch from a guy with a 2012 road glide ultra that had bush tec install it on his bike in Jacksboro tn not far from us. That same hitch is on my 2015 road glide cvo rushmore. No cutting grinding welding or hole drilling.

The Bushtec harness works fine on my 2015, all plug and play except for the ground wire, most of my trailer lights are not LED.
