Stator Rotor
« on: June 25, 2015, 01:33:17 PM »

Do magnets get old? Do I need to replace stator rotor or is it a waste of time? About to go in and install fourth compensator. Have proper rotor for the job already installed with last compensator but was wondering should I replace stator rotor with a new one this time? Thanks.

Not necessary.

When I was installing my 6th compensator this spring I thought what the heck I'll loosen the stator and check out the backside.  I found it burnt on one section and very brittle but I had 80,000 miles on the bike so I changed it.  If you are in there you could check it for piece of mind but the magnets should last for a very long time.

One thing HD seems to have gotten right is the lack of magnet migration on the rotors. I have other bikes where rotor magnet migration is very common at low mileage.
