Want an enclosed trailer with room for 2 bikes and little to spare. Is the extra weight and cost of a tandem worth it?
Again depends on your needs but in general a dual axle trailer will be more stable especially if you have a trailer tire blow out. It handles a heavy load and many come with trailer brakes (which may be required in your state with dual axles). The trailer brakes will help with stopping distance and wear and tear on you tow vehicle. The only downside some experience with dual axle other then price is the less maneuverability in parking lot sharp turns vs. single axle maneuverability at parking lot sharp turns.

I have a Feather Lite 6 X 10 V nose single axle, I used to pull it with a 6 cyl Ford Explorer.  1 bike a little storage. Now I don't even know it's there when I pull it with my 14 GMC Sierra! Next one will be 7 X 14 V, twin axle. There's always a buddy willing to share the expenses when going on a road trip!     BostonBoy

Yes, it's worth having the brakes. Brakes are good.....  ;D

I use a 8 1/2' x 38' (35' square, 3' V). A good size personal trailer lol.....

Kidding aside my next small trailer will be a 8  or 8 1/2' wide by 16' V-nose.

Wow!

I used a MC moving service once and he used a short top trailer about half that size and still got a chit-ton of bikes into it.

I don't have anything fancy. I use a regular utility trailer with the long folding ramp in the back. I extended the flooring up by 1 foot to accommodate my longer bikes (at the time 2010 Ultra).  I have two removable chocks in the front. It has larger 15" wheels on it as well. The trailer is 5' by 8' (now 9') and I have carried two bikes with no issues. I am thinking of making an aluminum nose that I can remove to protect the bikes more. I use the trailer for many purposes (hauling chit) so it is very dual purpose.

Are you loading them 2 wide or staggered.

I ask as I have a 7x 14 and I don't care for it. Seems like a long trailer for only two bikes hence why I would go with at least a 8 wide next time around. With an 8 wide trailer I could load them side by side.

we already had a 28 foot car trailer so I  E tracked the floor and added 6 wheel chocks, 4 square or two down the middle, pull it with a diesel and 342 axel ratio, squeezes fuel nicely, hauls ass too. low roof trailer. Good bit of work the etrack 742 bolts fender washers under the wood [special thick ones] regualar washers and locknuts, hit every crossmember too.

I have a roadmaster, 20 foot plus 3 foot v nose lowrider. Have 12 d rings and 2 rows of e track front to back, 2 condor chocks with e track adapter, makes it nice for hauling 1 bike or 4. I really prefere a tandem axle over a single, also spend a little extra and get torsion axles, rides so much better. Yes it's overkill because I usually only haul 2 bikes, but that leaves plenty of extra room for extra gear, luggage, coolers, etc.  also makes a nice garage for the bikes at night. Like everyone else this is just my opinion, good luck!!!

Slightly staggered and it works great. 2 wheeldock chock and 3 rows of aluminium aircraft track.

Sorry, forgot to say mine is 8 wide. I have a buddy with a 7 wide and he says the only thing he would change would be to go with a 8 or 8 1/2 wide. Can easily load side by side.

I forgot to say ours is a 102" or 8 1/2 wide I staggered the 4 bike method a comfortable bit, I actually had 4 of my bros meet me at a truck scale and PinkE on her trike to load and configure the weight where it's supposed to be with 3'4'or 2 down the middle. I came out with about 13% of the weight on the hitch. the standard car trailers will have thin mini wheel wells in the trailer you need to watch out for your bags when going by them. The wheel wells may complicate your tiedowns, to aleiviate this I added small pieces of etrack to the fore and aft vertical and horizontal areas on the steel fender wells too and a few pieces of etrack at the far outer edges and in the side door step inside the trailer. One word to the wise plan the etrack from underneath the trailer as well as the top, if you lay it down right on top of a lengthwise framerail and say that frame rail is a rectangular tube and drilling you hit it then youll hit it all the length of the trailer and bolt and nut wont work.
