First Harley ride
« on: July 18, 2015, 01:37:01 PM »

                Took my lovely 14 year old great niece  out on her first ride. Now I thinks she's hooked.

                                       Lid adjustment and clean off

They either love em or they hate em.  I really enjoy taking the youngsters for their first ride when they love it.   :2vrolijk_21:

Now you're obligated to take her for a ride from time to time until she's older.  Keep that fascination and interest alive.  Wait until you take her for her first all day ride with some of your friends in a pack.....that'll get her hooked.  :2vrolijk_21:

I can still remember my first ride......about 8 yrs. old.  That bike had a huge seat on it and I remember the smell.  Never saw any smoke, just remember the faint smell that years later I learned was burning oil.

Spyder.. I was thinking it was their first V-twin introduced in 1909 ::) :P :o :D...

Quote
The six-year-old Harley-Davidson Motor Company introduces its first V-twin powered motorcycle. With a displacement of 49.5 cubic inches, the bike produces seven horsepower. The image of two cylinders in a 45-degree configuration would fast become one of the most enduring icons of Harley-Davidson history. Also available for the first time from the Motor Company are spare parts for motorcycles.

JC... sorry I couldn't resist.. truth be told when I grow up I want to be just like you. :2vrolijk_21: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Yep, Panhead Spyder.  I was hooked from the first ride.

Gary's just wrong!  He's confusing his memories with mine.  :P

Good deal, Pete.  As others have already stated so eloquently, that first ride makes or breaks them.  My youngest was 6 on her first ride (just around the neighborhood) but she has loved it ever since.  The grandkids are "hinting"..... ;D
Glad your niece enjoyed the excursion.  The all day ride is next.  With you relocating close to them, that all day ride will come soon I'm guessing.... :2vrolijk_21:

I also love taking people on their first rides. I even took my mother on her first ride. I have taken girlfriends, nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws and just overall friends and family! Several of them just love it. You can tell right away they were meant to ride.  It is a pleasure sharing something I love so much.

Took a neighbor and her kids for short rides and happen to notice the neighbor felt so light on the back and she's an average size lady.  Just makes me wonder what makes some passengers seem lighter than others?  Is it the way they get on board, their balance or perhaps they lean with the driver?
