Weird weather......
« on: July 19, 2015, 09:55:54 AM »

We've all heard about it....our weather is changing from what it's been historically.  We've all experienced some weird, unusual weather in the past year or two.

California is in it's 5th year of severe drought.  This past week we had a rapidly moving brush fire that burned up a number of cars, trucks and motorhomes (motorcycles can lane split.....thank God!) caught in the rush hour parking lot....otherwise known as a So Cal freeway.

Yesterday San Diego and Coronado had record rainfall.....(1.20" here in Coronado) and well over an inch all over the San Diego area.....1 1/2" in Kearny Mesa (San Diego suburb).  We also had lightening and thunder for several hours......we never see that here.  And very high temps.....I know that many of you say "but it's a dry heat".  It used to be.....but humidity has been in the mid 80s to high 90s this summer.  It's supposed to be 100% humidity today in El Cajon (another SD suburb).

They're projecting an El Nino year and we certainly need it (above normal rainfall).  But this is just plain weird weather.  :-\

The latest thing from science is that Global Warming will get its nuts cut off in another 15 to 20 years when a new solar Maunder Minimum starts happening.  Mini ice age.  Major rivers will freeze all over North America and Europe.  Winters worse than known in our lifetimes.  Snow in Coronado.  Taylor Swift will start going outside fully clothed again.  It's frightening.

Here on the Island  we've had very little snow the last couple winters so the water reserves are low. Water restrictions are between level 2 and 4.
Hot and dry...lots of fires....idiots still throwing cig butts out their car windows. Most of the rivers have a fishing ban...low and warm water. Fire ban in effect everywhere except for the Fog Zone on the west side of the Island.

Mini ice age.

There are dozen different theories with future weather forecasting.

Many, many members on this forum have rode I-10.....one of the major interstates here in Calif. to go east/west.   Marty just sent this to me....  http://www.foxnews.com/weather/2015/07/20/second-day-southern-california-storms-bring-rare-rainouts/

I think there's weird weather just about everywhere.  Not trying to rub it in as I wouldn't even think of doing that, but we averaged about 2" of rain per week here in March thru June thanks to el niƱo, and it was getting downright depressing.  Not good riding weather.
Now, for the last 11 days in a row, no rain and much higher than average temps and humidity.  Again, not good riding weather when it's 100+ heat index with high humidity.  I'm not complaining (too much), especially when I watch the news from out west.  Pretty scary for y'all, but am glad you guys are finally getting some rain.
