Headline is a little miss-leading, should read.... motorcyclists slaughtered by truck driver!!
This is a horrific nightmare for these people and their families/friends.

Local witnesses said he swerved across two lanes before hitting them.

Horrific indeed and needless... Apparently law enforcement recognized the 'accident' for what it was and charged the driver with felony hit and run. Bet that was a shocker when the truck driver finally woke up...

Should have been involuntary manslaughter if you ask me.

That makes little sense to me either JC. A web search indicates, 'Misdemeanor Death - unintentionally causing the death of a person while operating a vehicle.' It was talking about community service and a maybe up to 45 days incarceration if convicted in one description. Sounds like a, 'slap on the wrist' charge for something as heinous as this event with loss of life, even with the felony charge.

I live about 2 miles from the accident. Local news is very hush-hush about. Said he went to sleep. must have been a deep sleep to go off roading for a mile before stopping. I hear there was a passenger in the truck.

Mike keep us updated on this.  I'm thinking there may be more to this story.

Having been in a motorcycle accident that resulted in a fatality, I can't hardly bear to hear news like this, much less watch the video.  Call me weak, but it breaks my heart completely.  Those of you who've lost loved ones know how hard it can be, but when they are taken from you suddenly and violently...well, I really have a hard time with that.  For anyone who causes a death or deaths like that (if it was indeed negligent), well...I won't go into what I think should happen then....

In these instances I'm reminded of a lyric from Gordon Lightfoot's "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" that says "Does anyone know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours?"  He's singing about a slightly different circumstance, but it's about death and loss nonetheless and the inevitable slowing of time during loss and grieving (or even when you know you're going to perish).  I've been where Gordon was talking about, where a circumstance turned even mere seconds into hours or even days it seemed.  Unfortunately it will be that way for that family for a long time to come.

When something like this first happens, it seems like the love of God is nowhere to be found, but He is still there and so is His boundless love, and I know that He grieves for the families and their loss and for the pain they will continue to feel the rest of their lives after a loss like this.  They may have great difficulty feeling His love right now, but it is there.  Of that I have no doubt.  And let me tell you, having His love surround you at times like that (and always) is truly a blessing.

The media is being very quiet about this deal and I have a good idea why.

Yes, "they say" he fell asleep, yes there was a passenger in the truck. It took him a mile to pull over and the Trooper said it looked like he no plans on stopping and only did so because of a flat tire. You can't tell me that between the driver and the passenger that this couldn't have happened without them realizing it.

There are other sites that say about the same, but one I found has pictures including of the front of the truck, but there is absolutely no way I will post a link to that news site in Greensboro, as the pictures are so horrific that I had to leave the website, and sit and have a good cry for these poor people.  This is something none of them will ever get over, and that truck driver will likely be driving again by this time next year.  Pictures like that don't constitute news, for God's sake!  They feed the low-lifes of this country and that's all they're good for.
I will however, post this link which I found before stumbling across the other one:
http://myfox8.com/2015/07/20/tractor-trailer-driver-charged-in-fatal-wreck-on-i-85-due-in-court/
It has a video concerning the accident, but I couldn't bring myself to watch it.  They say he was going between 80-85mph at impact and didn't stop for about a mile, and if that's true, then...
My advice...don't read the article if you don't want to get pissed off.  I think I need to go shoot my 1911 for a while now and work off some of this helpless anger I feel.

It was all over the news up here. They did say there was a second person riding in the truck. Fell asleep, ran off the road, stopped a 1/2 mile later because of a flat tire. Says he never knew he hit anybody!!!
