FLHTCUSE2 Tour Pak Bluetooth Install Photo Request
« on: January 17, 2007, 02:11:42 PM »

I need a picture showing the HD Advanced Audio Bluetooth module installed in the correct location in the '06 or '07 Preimum Leather Tour Pak behind the indent in the Leather Tour Pak liner wall.

My dealer installed my bluetooth module by cutting a hole in the Tour Pak liner at the front as per instructions for an older touring model. Arrrggghhh! The dealer claims that there are no other instructions available and what they did was correct.

Unfortunately, the bluetooth module has already come loose from the tour pak wall and fallen over to the tour pak floor.

If anyone can help with this request I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Clyde

What he did was plain wrong, Clyde!  :(

I don't have a pic of mine installed, but I can say three things:

1) A moron would have had more sense than to fit it like that!
2) It does not fit well anywhere in the leather tourpak
3) if you look at the left side, under the hinges, the liner has a bulge the right shape and size for the BT module - that's where I put mine - should have seemed glaringly obvious to your dealer!!  The liner holds it in place, as the locking adhesive clips don't stick well to the contoured side of the tourpak, even after I dremelled (have dremel, am dangerous!) the two ribs on the plastic flush. But it sits OK in there, and I put some velcro on the inside of the liner and on the BT unit to keep the liner attached to it so it looks neat.

WildClyde, Gene put his inside the fairing. It looks pretty good. That is where I'm planning on putting mine. I need the room in back.

Good luck. I would definatlly get that pack replaced especially after all you have been through. AJ

Wild,

My dealer refused to put it in the fairing when I had it installed.   They cut my liner inside the tourpak the side of the tourpak where the passenger sits against.   Mine hasnt come loose and has worked well.   They said if I moved it to the fairing it was no longer a warranty item since it was installed by them.    I am half tempted to have it moved to gain the space, but it really hasnt affected me as of yet.   I did however make sure that the surfaces were cleaned really well before the velcro attachment was applied.
Thus far no issues just a complaint that I know it could have been installed in the fairing and it is where I should have put it to make it easier / cleaner.

Shame they cut the lining Harry - there's absolutely no need, since the space is already reserved in the lining on the left side under the hinges.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

EQCons,

I couldn't get it to work there in my bike I tried with them.   The top of it kept hitting the hinges.   I was worried about the hitting/rubbing especially as it wore over time, so I had them move it to the front side to be safe.  At the time I hadn't seen the picture of it being installed in the fairing, but now that I have I may move it to the front anyhow.

It needs to sit as far down as possible in there, but it works fine.  For me the thing about putting it in the fairing is not room, it's to avoid the hassle of getting the wiring all the way to the back!  I've yet to install mine on my new bike, so I think I'll go for a fairing install too.
