Lookie what I had in the mail today
« on: July 22, 2015, 01:48:18 PM »

You know, the more I'm on this site, the more I understand just how great a forum it is.  We have an eclectic member base and I enjoy them all.

If you remember, Longlast (Pete) posted some information a year or so ago concerning his nephew with him being in the Royal guard and being chosen to be "featured" on some of the Royal official merchandise.  Pete and I talk from time to time via PM and I inquired that I would be interested in a couple of the mugs with his nephew featured.  One for me and one for a great friend who's wife is one of the officers in WBE (Women of the British Empire).  Knoxville has one of the largest groups around and I thought it would be a great conversation piece for both of us.  (BTW, I'm an honorary member of the men's group....Son's of Britain or, yep you guessed it, the "SOB's".... ;D ).  Anyway, that discussion was over a year ago.

Today I go home for lunch and there is a package waiting for me.  It was from England and my good friend Pete.  He had a hard time finding items that had his nephew featured because they rotate the pictures every 6-8 weeks.  Low and behold, he found an extra and sent it to me.  Not only the mug but also some sports items from the West Ham United Football club from East London.

Friends are relatively easy to find.  Good friends are much more rare.  Pete, you are a good friend and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I felt compelled to post a picture.  The cup is turned to show Peter's nephew.

Neat stuff, Haird!  Thanks for sharing it with us.

You're right, good and true friends should be kept for life...but Christian brothers and sisters who are our true friends are an undeniable gift from the Lord!  It seems we have a lot of brothers and sisters in Christ on this forum, and I'm thankful for that!   :2vrolijk_21:
