Seats
« on: July 23, 2015, 07:44:15 PM »

Does anyone have any input on the corbin solo with backrest as an option for my 2010 FLHXSE-and a good place to purchase for a good price-they seem to be very scarce. I have a Mustang solo without backrest and was considering a change to keep up with my aging back.

skorch - I've done a lot of research on seats lately but have no actual Corbin road experience to relate. I was investigating a solo seat  for my CUSE8 - add a backrest and P pad and this becomes quite expensive. I don't think there's much of a price break anywhere from what I found and as you stated, they appear to be scarce off the shelf. If I pursued this purchase I'd buy direct from Corbin and do some customization - this looked liked the best course of action but kind of pricey. I was also seeking a backrest for my older FXR for the reason you stated. Ordered a Corbin Gunfighter w/backrest, the only seat available for the FXR frame I could find. This was shipped yesterday so I'll have it later next week.

I had a Corbin Solo on my 2010 FLHX.  Traded in for a FLHXSE this year.  Because I purchased it directly from Corbin,  I was able to ship it back to be recovered from their factory.  Looks like new and the best seat for my arse.

I personally really like the comfort of the Corbin seats. Their customer service department sucks at time though.

Not sure how many Corbin seats I had but it's probably around 20 the last 22 years. I had over 30 bikes at that time and most (all street bikes) got the Corbin seats. Love the seat. Hate the crappy lying customer service dweebs.

No need to worry about Corbin customer service, there isn't any.

Amen to that. I tried to buy a seat from them earlier this summer. Call them. Email them. Wrote them. All the while discussing specific instructions and trying to provide pictures to illustrate what I wanted done. They wouldn't look at anything. In the end zero effective response.  After making three attempts to spend close to a thousand bucks with just gave up on them.  Bought, used and liked many of their saddles for many years.  But just can't deal with someone that makes it that hard to give them your money....

I even went over to the Daytona Corbin store one slow Saturday in an effort to at least talk to someone. We wondered around in there, sat on there cool stools for approx. 30 minutes and finally left, one guy came thru the showroom and went in restroom, he never came out and no one else came thru. Finally said this is enough and left, came home and called Danny Gray on Monday and had my new seat the way I wanted it 13 days later and this inc emailing them my crappy drawings and color choices and a couple phone calls from them to verify.
Good service I thought. NO more Corbin.

I took delivery of a Corbin Gunslinger seat with backrest last Thursday for my ’86 FRX. Really bought the seat because I wanted a backrest, always ride this scoot solo these days & I’m not getting any younger. This was the only version I could find on-line with backrest that worked for my frame. My Corbin experience was okay… I called to speak with a salesperson directly because of all the poor comments I’ve read about this firm. While we were on the phone I texted some dimensioned images of my bike and the low sissybar I have installed directly to the salesman to verify he viewed them. Wanted to be certain the seat would fit with the bike as configured as I didn’t want to modify the sissybar or backrest. Delivery time was estimated at 30-days as the seat had to be constructed - they made that timeline almost exactly. My only issue was they charged my card immediately upon ordering, a practice I don’t agree with. I had to grind about a ¼” off the rear tab to have it slip below the luggage rack, but the seat quality is excellent and it's comfortable. Haven’t photographed it yet but I will shortly.

Thanks for all the input. I decided not to go with corbin (sad there customer service is so pathetic)-test rode a saddleman dominator, the seat sat me up too high and a little too forward but the quality was better than anything I have seen (even corbin)with fit ,finish and gel installed. All that said I am going with mustang vintage super solo w/backrest because of how it placed me on the bike.

I bought a corbin solo for my 12 CVO Road Glide.  I went into the store during biketoberfest in Daytona.  I was waited on right away.  The guy was very helpful.  Seat has been great I have over 60K miles on it now.

That said, I had tried calling before this and it was not a good experience.

I have been in the store since, twice, once waited on right a way, once left after 20 minutes and no service.
