May have to remember that one!

Of course where we live, if there are strangers around, there's a likelihood they're really lost or just friends or relatives, or they're up to no good.  And the latter is extremely rare, 'cause EVERYBODY KNOWS that folks who live in the Ozarks have at least one gun in every room of their house, so if they're up to no good, they're also crazy!    :vrolijk27:

The are more interested in protecting the life of the criminal then that of the law abiding citizen.

There were probably hoping and excited to arrest the home owner for a gun violation to make an example of him.

I know that was England but in Vermont they do that all the time.

Of course we all know this story is Urban Legend passed around in various forms. Sound funny for a frustrated person but you have to consider the fact that emergency response is prioritized and since they can't be everywhere at once and at your immediate "beck and call" then maybe somebody had a higher priority need? How would things go over if another person bled to death etc. while you invented a higher priority status for yourself?
In reality I'm sure the person calling would get a summons for court to explain the false report........not such a smart idea then......

In the rare instance this could happen I agree. From a citizen's POV the priority is usually based on revenue (as is all businesses priority) and what may land in the news. The big crime is a priority because it hits the news. If there is a life threating event that is a priority. Otherwise revenue and news drive what is next.  Tickets are revenue while catching (or better yet preventing) a robbery etc. is cost. If a wealthy person is involved (or it hits the news) those incidents are worked harder. Although I disagree I do understand that these items are what make the world work.

Police officers love to be able to catch folks in the act, much more fun that getting there afterwards.

 :-\
I'm guessing the (response) you get is subject to the area where you live (high crime area..........versus suburb.......occassional problem).

When I lived in Raleigh,  N.C.,  I  had two or three occassions to call the Sheriffs office due to "parties/gatherings" at the end of our cul de sac.  Each time,  there were squad cars there within less than 10 minute and all was resolved quickly.  Had I had an experiece like suggested,  I would resort to the same approach to get some attention..............never had to do that..........Sheriff was an ex Pro football player as I was told and did NOT tolerate any B.S. from low lifes. :drink:
