Hannigan trailer?
« on: July 31, 2015, 11:13:43 PM »

All this trailer talk has me considering getting one for trips because of bringing the pup along. I haven't heard of this brand before.

Thoughts or prior experience with one of these??

Mike

I had one they are a great trailer if you have a trike, in my opinion way too big for a 2 wheel bike.  You can just about sleep in them. Seriously, great trailers haul a lot and pull well behind a trike.  I don't think you would like it.

Mike,
If'n you want a good pulling trailer build one like I did. Rock steady at 95 MPH. Looks, all in the eye of the beholder. 20 cu ft Capacity, low profile, and you can't beat the price. I think you saw it at New River.

Hannigan is a well known name and is a good trailer. Chains is correct about trikes pulling it. You will also see a lot of them behind Goldwings. Don't overthink the trailer purchase though. If you are really considering it do like most have done and find you a used Bushtec. Chains is the guru of locating a Bushtec. Find you a blue one, change the bearings, the tires and keep it for 20 years of fun. There are other types possibly cheaper but like the helmets, if you have a 10 dollar head buy a 10 dollar helmet.. The blue 15 RG deserves much better than a 10 dollar trailer.

+ 0ne for what Chip says. I over studied trailers for 2 years before I bought my Bushtec and never looked back!

If you're really considering bringing your "pup" along, look for a used Wags trailer. No longer in production, but plenty of used ones around and made for Pups

Check with site member Hogasm.  He builds a trailer specifically for dogs and to be pulled behind a bike.

That would actually suit my need just fine. Just something big enough to hold the pup's crate she sleeps in at night which is about the size of a medium cooler.

We have friends that haul their bulldog everywhere on a Bushtech Cargo trailer that they put the big dog carrier on. With the price of the Bushtechs even finding one used and how often I'd use it, I'd have a hard time justifying the price on one no matter how good they look. I asked about that Hannigan because it's local and thought maybe I could try a lowball offer and get a good price on it. I can get a new Aluma trailer and haul the bike and have a chase vehicle handy in case of bad weather or worse for the price of a used Bushtech. They look great and you guys give them all great reviews so I'm sure they're the best on the market, just trying to justify cost vs usage.

I was talking with him at the NRG GTG a few weeks back. See my reply to Mikey. I just need a little extra cargo space for the dog's supplies. She's just a little 6lb Chihuahua.

I hear ya, trying to justify a pull behind too. Already have an aluminum motorcycle trailer to use like the Aluma brand. There are times I'd like to ride to a location with a pull behind, then others when I just want to get to the destination quickly since the route there isn't very scenic which is why I trailer the bike to MV.

Thanks John. Mikey mentioned that already. I just need a trailer to haul the dog's kennel. The dog itself rides in a sling that my wife wears around her.

I probably have the $10 head.....lol, but the Aluma pull behind has served me very well and there would be plenty of room on top of it for a dog crate. Like some of the others I have trouble justifying the price of the Bushtec vs the Aluma. I will agree the Bushtec is a much nicer trailer but for the $900 I gave for the Aluma I can sure put a lot of.gas in the skoot for the $3000 difference
