6 speed trans in 04 SEEG hydraulic clutch release
« on: January 18, 2007, 11:02:54 AM »

With the baker DD6 or the SE harley gear set are you able to use the stock hyd clutch cover or did you have to buy another? I know what the MOCO says but what is the differences on the covers ?Also which tranny is beter and why? I pull a trailer so I need low end torque . But I also  like to go like hell and usually try about 10 or so over the speed limit on average. Thanks

I have the Baker DD6 in my 04. ;I did change the ratios in 1-3 gears for more towing power like you are looking for.

With the Baker I had to change the cover, but can go back to stock if need to. You will change the comp sprocket to a 28 tooth. One problem here is that I have not been able to find a 27 tooth.

With Harley you have to do a little grinding on the case and you can not go back to the 5 speed. The one thing I like about the Harley is the ability to change the comp sprocket down a tooth [24] and still have a overdrive when in 6th gear.

I do the same as you, tow a trailer. I am in the process of taking the Baker out of my bike and installing it in my wifes Street Glide and installing Harley's 6 speed back in mine. I don't plan on getting rid of my bike anytime soon.

I have the Baker DD6 as well...

They used my stock Hydro clutch cover.

The install looks great (polished) and the DD6 is just kick butt!  Changes the WHOLE bike!!!

I dreamed and lost a little sleep on the 6 speed for my bike. Finally went with a complete se 6 speed. For me it seem to be the best way to go.  Very satistied. don

That extra 6th gear with the 103 (for those of us that like to "cruise" around 75-80+) just makes a 6th speed a must - my favorite - the Baker DD6!!!
