2015 Scorching Yellow SG
« on: August 01, 2015, 06:21:04 AM »

Bought from dealer w 400 miles on it
Was told just been serviced gd till 3000 miles
Baby it during break in period
Took back to local dealer for back rest and to listen to lifter tick
Was told normal throttle body noise and to drive the hell out of it
So i did now 1/2 qt low and lil noiseier
1600 miles now-if i change oil now does it void waranty
Or just take it in and pay...ran hot during break in wrote it off as cat conv heat
Normal or better safe than sorry?

Not sure why dealer would service after 400 miles.  Service intervals are at 1k, 5k,10k, etc.   Regarding the lifter tick/valve train noise...the 110 is a noisy engine on the top end.  I'd be concerned about the oil useage...many have complained, including me, of excessive oil consumption in their 110s.  MoCo claims 1 qt per 1000 miles is with "normal."  Sure.  Regarding voiding the warranty if you change oil now...no it will not void the warranty.  You asked about the engine heat, 110s with a cat run very hot.  Also, your bike is still under warranty, right?  Any issues should be addressed by the dealer.

From looking at your header pipes which are black, I don't see any on the HD website CVO street glide models that match so is it possible your header pipes were already switched out to non-catalytic headers?  On my 2012 CVO street glide you feel a lot of heat off the exhaust, especially in the summer. Going with non-non-catayltic header will help with heat but you will need a retune to richen it up which probably helps even more. I'm waiting until my warranty runs out then will have Doc's Performance in Minneola Florida change out my headers and retune. I've also got some lifter noise at start up that goes away after warm up; it's intermitent and happens maybe a third of the time when I start it.  Changing your oil early WIL NOT void your warranty.  If I change my own I just keep my receipts and use what's recommended but am thinking of switching to AMSOIL 20-50 V-Twin oil at my next oil change.

Congrats on your purchase.

The head pipe could be stock with a swap to black heat shields? Ask the dealer when you stop in next about the exhaust system, stock or not? Oil pressure seems about right, the hotter the oil the less pressure you will have.

As mentioned above keep reciepts for fluid changes, this will prevent issues regarding your warranty if its motor related.
