2000 Screamin Eagle Stage Two ?
« on: August 03, 2015, 10:58:26 PM »

I noticed that on 2000 SE Road Glides, they use two different emblems on the console insert:

This one:

and this one:

Are there any differences between the two bikes I saw these on?

Good eye.  Mine has the latter emblem.  I don't believe I've ever seen the first one before and I'm not aware of any stage options on the bikes when new.

That center emblem is part of the stick on larger dash panel.  The panels were color specific to the bikes.  Never saw one with the "stage 2" text on it previously.  There is also no part number for the panels anything other than the panels that came on the stock bikes new as delivered.  So no factory part number for a stage 2 emblem.  It's got to be an overlay someone has added or someone went to a lot of trouble to make something up.

Of the few 2000 SERGs I've seen they've all had the second console emblem.  Please provide more details on the upper 'stage two' emblem (your bike?  known history?  how original?).  If it's a one-off it's darn good.

The first emblem is the one that is on my bike. I asked the original owner and he stated that it is original and the one that came on the bike. From what I read, "Stage Two" is the smaller displacement bumped up to 95 C.I. which is how all the 2000 SE's came from the factory. Kind of weird.

The 95" engine was stock on the SE Road Glides and the 2002 SE Road King.  This was never offered nor described as some kind of stock stage 2 upgrade.

In 2000 there were two Big Bore Kits available for the Twin Cam engine. Stage I was pistosn and cylinders only, Stage II was pistons,  cylinders, 203 cams and a clutch spring. Technically ALL 2000 through 2002 SE touring bikes whether Road Glide or Road King were Stage II Big Bore kit equipped bikes from the factory.

Is it possible some early production 2000 SERGs had the stage two mention that was dropped sometime during the production run? HD does some crazy stuff from time to time and maybe the legal department had heartburn over the use of the Stage II badging. When comparing the two examples posted they look identical except that the Stage II is dropped on one. If this is truly what happened all bikes with the Stage II badging would be Black/Orange because that was the first color produced.

Some good info.. Thanks! Well at least if I have one too many at a rally, I won't get my 2000 mixed up with another 2000.  ;D

Though that is what the builds are have you ever seen any CVO docs, literature or sales brochures that described them as Stage II ?  I never have.  There's also only one part number for that dash emblem for each color bike and, having ordered both colors from 2000 before, neither have the extra Stage II script.  Even one very early black and orange bike I used to know of wasn't marked that way.  I'm still thinking it's a nicely done one-off.  But this is Harley we're talking about....

I thought it was from a triple red bike also Brian.  If so not an early production.  But with flashes and backgrounds and god knows what else that goes in to the magic of digital and cell phone photography I wasn't thinking I knew for sure what he had.

Never mind.  I looked back at his first (introductory) post and saw he has a B/O/W.

You know the more I think about it the more it puzzles me. IF HD had done it would it not have said Stage II instead of Stage Two?  And looking at the two posts again, it may be my imagination but the stage two looks a little crooked, like sloping slightly down left to right. Note the distance between the "S" and the "O" in relation to the 1550 below.

I wish our Ol buddy Sam Crockett still had his, it was a very early production Black/Orange.

It's cool either way.
