The deal is, a brand new, never titled, 2 mile, 2012, FLSTN, Softail Deluxe, Ember Red, with ABS and Security, $15K plus state sales tax !!!! No Warranty, sold as is. Comments or thoughts ?

What's the sticker price?  If I Googled correctly, the base price is $17,149 + $335 destination = $17,484.  Couldn't find the sticker cost of ABS, security system, and probably a color option, but that would be about $1,500.  That brings the sticker to about $19,000.  So for a bike that's four years old, with no warranty, they're knocking off about $4,000.  How does this compare to used 2012 Softail Deluxes, in pristine shape, with low miles?

JM2C, if the dealership initially threw out the $15k price, there's probably more wiggle-room.  As suggested above, since there's no warranty, negotiate an extended service plan into the deal at their cost.

NADA shows $15,600 for average retail in ember red with security & ABS for my zip code near Chicago.  MSRP back in 2012 was about $19,804 with ABS, Security, and Ember Red paint.

Comments or thoughts ?

Take the $15K and put it down on a new Ford.
Mustang or F-150.

Jerry, you always seem to amaze me what information you have at your finger tips.

Now if I wanted to test the waters I would show up 15K cash and see if the deal could be finished all out the door. Never know until you try.

you do need to pull out the cash and show them, to many are just BS.

PS. Do not have 1 dollar more than the 15K on you.

Having said that, it looks like a good deal in the context of used bikes.

Many (most?) car dealers make money if you finance through them, so paying cash isn't a benefit to them.  Don't know for a fact that's true for HD, but suspect it is.

No matter what, they're going to play the dealer shell game:  if you finance, they might come down on the sale price; if you have have a trade-in, they can adjust that value or the sale price, etc.  In this case, they can play with the price of the bike and the ESP.

BTW, be sure to read the actual ESP contract fine print, not the advertising literature--ESP excludes coverage for many things the factory warranty would cover.

the softail line is probably going to have a major re-vamp for 2016! thinking maybe, the prices on softails may drop like a rock in a few weeks or even days. shop a little more and ask a lot of question concerning the 2016 models.

Well, one final follow up on this topic, I visited the Dealer yesterday and here is the deal, first, the Dealer will provide a full 2 year warranty on the 2012 Deluxe, the same as would have been in effect from the MOCO and will of course write that into the contract to purchase, second they will sell me the bike for $15,500 and finally, they will allow me $4,500 dollars for our 2007, Sportster 883 Custom, all in all, the deal is our bike and $11,000 plus state tax and we will own a beautiful brand new, Ember Red 2012 Softail Deluxe for my Wife !!!   Thoughts  ???

a well negotiated deal, personally, I would go for it. The ONLY drawback would be in a quick trade or resale.

The Dealer principles left early Friday morning for Las Wages for the National Harley Dealer Convention where I believe the new 2016's will be introduced, when they return, we are going to meet and probably do the deal, its just too fair of a deal to pass up ! Thanks to all Forum member's who contributed with opinion and thoughts on this post, looks like many fellow CVO riders support this deal, even though its not on a Softail Deluxe CVO !!! It's another BEAUTIFUL August day here in Southwest Ohio, time to get out, do some riding with my "Better Half", the rides on her 883 Custom might be coming to an end !!! Ride Safe All !!!
