PIN Used to Disarm Smart Security System
« on: January 18, 2007, 10:28:19 PM »

Are any of you having trouble changing the PIN to disarm the security system on the 2007 SERK?  I think that I am following the instructions in the owners manual, but don't get to the step where the factory PIN shows in the odometer.

I think you should turn the ignition key on, then off, then on, then off, then on - Press the left turn signal 3 times then press the right turn signal once.

Help would be appreciated.

That's the correct procedure.  Are you doing it fast enough?  You can't be too slow pressing the left turn signal switch.

Welcome aboard Bears. I can't believe what you have to go thru with these security systems. What the hell did I get myself into here! [smiley=nixweiss.gif] Good luck with your new ride. I get mine next week. I'll probably be asking the same question. ;) Hoist! 8-)

You only have to set up a security code once in order to will allow you to start the bike if the keyfob is forgotten, has a dead battery, is broken, etc.  In fact, the dealer set mine up first but then I changed it when I got the bike home.

Once you get it done, I'd also go through the process of disarming it without the keyfob just to understand how and make sure it works.

Hey rbm, are the instructions clear on how to do all this. I'll try to go over it with the dealer today. Also, is anything different with the Smart Alarm II with Pager, as far as this stuff goes. Thanks. Hoist! 8-)

I don't have the pager but I can't imagine that it would change how you go about setting up the codes.  I had to go through the process a couple of times before I got it working and I think it had to do with me going too slow between steps.  The instructions are clear PLUS in the manual, there is a wallet size card that you carry that gives you instructions (nice to have with you all the time)

Your not the only one having difficulty setting that thing, I tried for quite a while one night to no avail, went and had a few brews then tried again, same results, never did get it set and haven’t tried again.

Thanks for the help - the problem was indeed that I was going thru the steps too slowly.
