Change lifters on 2015 with new cams?
« on: August 19, 2015, 07:42:42 AM »

Getting ready to instal 24d cams in the 2 week old 15 limited, been reading about lifter failure a lot in these 110 motors, will eventually get the SE 10 5 1 pistons installed also should I change out the lifters or are the new versions from harley okay?

I would suggest a quality replacement lifter. The newer CVO  lifter has had a change in rollers but that is not the only issue on the stock units  better than the C lifter yes... as good as it could be no . Many CVO memberse have our GMR lifter in there bikes with zero issue's.

Nobody seems to know, I've asked that question a couple times. I would install S&S Premium lifters while your at it. I did along with 24D cams in my 2014 CVO Roadking. It's very quiet runs well, but I only have 5000 miles on it. I have a 2015 Roadglide 103" and the "C" lifters that come in them are definitely suspect. The front exhaust lifter bleeds down overnight, it does quiet down after a few seconds, 7000 miles on them. I'm going to install the SE lifters that came out of the Roadking in the Roadglide and see how they perform.

Change them out now.  It's cheap compared to if/when they fail.  Don't forget to replace the inner cam bearings too, less than 30 bucks.

Use GMR, or S&S, even CompCams 850's.

Agree with Steve
Our Premiium lifters are a big improvement as well
I have not yet actually heard of CVOs that have the 18572-13 lifters which are supposed to be an improvement over the -C lifters. Just not sure if they actually are used in the motors. There are conflicts in the parts book and the product improvement literature. My 2013 did have not have them in it.

Go with the s&s standards.no reason for the premiums and definatly not the travel limiters.ide think about switching the oem springs for AV&V beehives too.oem 110 springs have way too much seat pressure

Which AV&V  beehive springs would be good?    Should we also change to AV&V's Manganese bronze valve guides?  What about
seals?

I have a little over 9,000 miles on my GMR lifters and so far so good. Still nice and quiet.

Would suggest manley springs and kibblewhite guides

Going that far there is more you should do

I agree no issues with AV&V or KB guides the 600 spring will work just fine. Even on a 600 lift cam that spring is not going to be into coil bind .  :2vrolijk_21:

We use the .650" AV&V's here, that way a client can move to a larger cam if needed/wanted in the future w/o worry.
Same spring we use in our Stage III and Stage IV T/C Head.
S&S lifters, pushrods, rocker arms, are the valvetrain products we use as well.
Could re-box them and call them "ours".............??
Sounds like a great idea!! :orange:

I had a 110 let go because of lifter failure...
