Fairing Trim
« on: August 29, 2015, 06:48:27 PM »

I've got a 2012 CVO Road Glide. The small rubber trim that runs around the inner fairing and ends up by the windshied has become separated from the inner fairing. It looks like it was put on with some sort of clear rubber cement. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so what did you use to reapply it.
                  Thanks Jonnierock

I used a spray automotive trim adhesive. It stayed liquid for 4/5 mins and you could easily wipe off any excess. Sorry can't recall the name, but it came from autozone.

visit pep boys or other auto parts store and find some door edge guard in a roll, for less than $10 you get a roll of it that will do at least three bikes. Look to make sure it's just u-shaped, they have some different types. I got tired of fiddling with my oem trim. I also went with black but they make chrome and other colors.

I even used some on my lowers and fenders.

Just a suggestion

I had the same problem I also got some adhesive spray as 2k did. What I found worked for me,.. I sprayed the adhesive onto some cardboard(making a small pool of it) and used a popsicle stick to smear onto the edge of inner faring then put the rubber on let it site for 1/2 hr haven't had any problem since.

3M Moulding trim adhesive is probably best product on market for this job, Comes in small tube, is clear even when dry. No spraying (or overspraying) involved. Take mldgs off, clean the groove and painted surfaces. I use the goop that is safe for plastic's. Apply small bead of adhesive to inside of mldg, wait couple minutes to tack and firmly push it onto the fairing. Use paint safe tape in any stress areas for overnight if you can, and the mldgs will be secure for along time. Mine made it for 5 years that I owned it after using this method with no problems. Adhesive comes in black tube, made by 3M and should be available at any good autoparts store. Good product.

+1, used it on my molding and has held for years. Have used this stuff many times in the last 20 + years for various trim repairs.
