Dyno Tuning
« on: September 01, 2015, 12:38:21 PM »

I have been reading the posts for three years but this is my first post.

I have a 2011 CVO SG and recently I had the dealer change out the head pipes to eliminate the cats. The bike now has Rush headpipes, 4" Rineharts, and a HD Supertuner. Bike ran strong previous to the headpipe change. Of course they put it on the Dyno, now it hesitates and stumbles at times, nothing but snap, crackle, pop every time I let up on the throttle. I took it back but you know how the world works, they want to give it to the guy that screwed it up and make him fix it. That doesn't work for me so its going back next week when a better tech can take a look at it.

First who does good Dyno work in Wisconsin, prefer the Madison/Milwaukee area if possible. Second, with this setup should I expect the snap, crackle, pop or is there a solution if tuning doesn't correct the problem.

I would appreciate any advice you could give me.

Assuming that you don't have any exhaust leaks, a proper tune WILL correct any running issues with that setup.  Many dealers just don't have qualified tuners on their staff.  Look up Doug Lofgren (sp?)--he's one of the best and is in your area.

Doug Lofgren is one of the best in the USA. He is currently at St. Boni motor sports just west of Minneapolis. He did my bike and it's the best running bike I have ever had with any pipe/cam/air cleaner setup.

I would go to Fuel Moto if I were in your area. They're in Little Chute.

Actually I'm quite jealous...you guys have so many good choices up there!

Contact Rick Cassel (Speed shop mgr) @ Suburban HD in Thiensville, Wi for an appt. Jason is the builder/tuner.

A big thank you to those who took the time to respond to my post. I knew I could depend upon this group to send me in the right direction. Nothing worse than paying good money and still having to deal with hassles, poor work, and wasted time.  Salute !!!!

I had Doug tune my bike in 2005 when he was working with Mike Roland. I agree he is the best in the country, but his real passion lies with Ducati's. Likely one of the most knowledgeable guys on Duc's there is.
