Thanks for your positive replies, it wasn't an easy decision to make. I have been riding since 1964, and have seen both the good and bad periods for Harley. I owned one of the last true, original electra glides, (1969 Shovel, the first year they put a full fairing on them), and on to this last bike, my SEEG. I remember having to get your name on a list if you wanted a Springer Softtail, I suffered with everyone trying to keep the oil off the garage floor with the AMG bikes, and then listened with a smile, the sales pitch of the Anniversary models, and how they were going to actually go up in value. (I have some swamp land if any of you bought a '03 because of that pitch) to my '05 SEEG that I bought to take a stand against all the enthusiasts that wanted only black or dark bikes. (So they could look like a club rider I guess) I am proud of my "Yellow Fireball" and it still turns heads where ever I go.
Now the real question is why do I not see, on 52 pages of classified ads, any comments or bids indicated? Is anyone getting a response in this classified section??

As far as shipping my bike to a dealer, I really would have a personal issue with that since the closest major city is Denver, 250 miles away, and I really wouldn't be able to keep track of it. I did make a flyer this spring and took it to Harley here, and tho they don't do consignment they said they would hand them out in the sales meeting. I was offering a $500 commission to anyone that sent a buyer. Turns out none of them got the information.
I want to address one other misconception we all have, (including myself till now), that there is no value for add ons. Number one, go look at a used bike at Harley, and they will justify the higher than book prices by pointing out the very things they say have no value when figuring the value of your bike on a trade.
Number two, I had it pointed out to me by a car dealer that you actually do earn a value on add on items with Kelly Blue Book. If you go though the process with KBB and get to the page that gives you a value, their will be an option to add your options to the value. My options that I have receipts for would, in the opinion of KBB be valued at 24% of the receipt value. I think that is too high, but if I just add 10% of my options values my bike is approaching $18k, the reality is, unfortunately, that I will be lucky to get10% under book even with receipts for $12k in options.
If I don't get it sold, at 70 years old, I will probably enjoy it in the fall and the spring and a few time in the winter until I can't any longer. My wife and I have been riding two up for 48 years, and that is the only way I like to ride, when I reach the point that I am concerned for her well being, it may become a garage queen, and some day a long time from now, someone will have gone into one of the out building, wonder what is under the old dusty cover, and discover a pristine, Screamin' Eagle Electra Glide, so bright that it looks like the day it was born!

Perhaps they will do like I did when I found my '69 Glide, clean it up, don't try to change it much, and enjoy a little bit of the "good old days"
