New Handlebars
« on: September 07, 2015, 04:13:04 AM »

As I posted earlier I pulled a "felony stupid" move and dropped my bike and when I tried to pick it up I bent my bars pretty good. They are Chubby 502's (12 1/5 apes) which I did like and obviously am used to. I hate to just buy the same thing and am looking at maybe the Yaffe or Carlini 12 inch. Anyone have any idea if I was comfortable with the Chubby's, will either of these work?

I'm partial to the Chubby Outlawz, but the Factory 47 bars have had very favorable reviews compared to the Yaffe's.  May want to give them a look.

After reading all the posts about pulling internal wiring ETC.ETC.ETC. I decided on HHI Reaper kit for my SG, 1"1/2 diameter bars, factory ready plug and play with internal wiring and plumbing .

Here is a link to the page for the RG setup.

http://hawghalters.com/handlebar-systems/roadglide/rg-reaper-kit/prod_490.html

They are BADAZZ, a nice clean and tight look.

WOW!!! That is one neat setup HHI has, but for $2195.00 I'll have to pull my own wires.

That sucks.... if you like what you had and are use to them why not replace them with the 502's unless your looking for a different look and/or height.

I just finished this morning installing a set of 10" Yaffe Monkey Bars on my SG. So far so good, went for a short ride and they feel good and look pretty nice. The Factory 47 bars are sweet, expensive and you may have to wait a month for them.

Thats funny.....

I waited 4 months for the 14 Yaffe OEM Monkey bars for my 12 CVO Road Glide.  Was told it would be 6 weeks.    Loved the bars so much I ordered them for my 13 CVO Road King.  Was told 6 weeks for the 14" OEM Monkey bars.  Three months later I got them.

In Sept 14 I ordered Yaffe 14 OEM monkey bars for my 15 CVO road Glide.  I was told it would be December.  In December they said January.  In January they said February and then in February they said March.  In March they said April, and I said you can keep them.....

First week of April I ordered the factory 47 14" bars for the 15 CVO Road Glide, 16 days later they were on my bike.

Finish is better and wires are easier to pull through on the Factory 47.  Comfort is the same.  Yaffe run a little tall, the 14 are about 15.5, and the factory 47 run short about 13.5 for the 14.

Next time I will order 16 Factory 47's.  Doubt Yaffe will get another chance for my business.

Anyone know if the factory 47's will fit ok? I don't see where they are stepped down for the stock RG risers?

If handlebars bend by lifting the bike they must be very thin wall. I'd try a different brand.

Ended up going with the Wild 1 14 inch Reapers they came out with a few months ago. I didn't like the pics of them on their website but dealer recommended them from a recent install they did. Great wrist angle and they were right, look great in person. I never cared for the "meathook" look before but when I saw them on the bike loved the way they looked and felt. Maybe this whole deal was meant to be though I am still pissed off at myself..

I had KW 2 + 2 narrow sweepers installed yesterday, was able to use stock clutch and brake line, had to use wire extensions. The difference is night and day, a totally different bike and ride. Very happy with the choice, should have had these on the past 3 bikes.
