Thank you everyone for checking in on this so far, I spoke with Greg K on the phone last night and you all seem to be fairly unanimous in believing I should expect more out of it. Even the stage one on my 2005 Softail made a real seat of the pants difference over the stock setup and I think it's reasonable to believe a similar improvement is in line.

My 15 CVO SG with the stock high flow air filter, Fullsac DX header and 4" Rineharts dyno'd at 93/111. Good choice heading out to see Steve.

For what its worth I ended up going back for a massage on my original tune, I wasnt happy. The HP was higher at 96 on the orignal tune which is at the top end of the RPM's but the bike had a flat spot that was driving me crazy from 2500-3500 RPM. I dont cruise at 5000 rpm so I could care less about a HP number. After the tweak I lost a little HP but the HP in the lower RPM range  increased a little and was noticeable on the ride home. The bike now runs good and I'm happy. The gas mileage isnt great and it doesnt concern me. I'm sure a little more HP and TQ can be generated for you.

Good luck and keep us posted.
Also, I noticed your sheet states SAE Smoothing not corrected

SAE is the correction factor.  Smoothing is just to make the chart prettier, 5 being the highest amount of smoothing.

From August 14th....  Fullsac X-pipe w/2" Cores... no other mods, tuned by David M. at Atlanta Harley-Davidson. Pretty close to what he thought he could get out of the 110 w/the Fullsac exhaust system.

Good info again, thank you. And there we have it... a 93/111 and a 96/110 out of the same combo I'm planning on. Both numbers are wildly better than the 84/97 I have.

Keep in mind that a Dyno is a tuning tool. Take your bike to a different shop and put it on a different dyno and it probably wont show the same numbers.....every one is different. Their are a few dyno operators that will play with the correction factors to increase numbers, but its easy to pick up on by experienced folks if they do that, and they don't stay in business long. Some dynos are stingy and some are generous, if you chase numbers you will drive yourself crazy. Bottom line is you want a bike that runs good, gets good fuel mileage, and doesn't do anything weird, surging, stumbling, or a lot of decel popping. And yes.....your butt dyno can be fooled, but usually it will be close.

Okay folks... here's the scoop.

First of all, a huge thank you to Steve out at Fullsac. This man knows his stuff, he came highly recommended by several people on the forum and I should have listened and just bit the bullet and rode to Lake Havasu in the first place. Note to self: It's getting on the end of summer and it's getting cold in the desert at night.  :nervous: Other than a chilly zone or two a nice 225 miles early morning and later afternoon return ride. Note #2: The spray on sunblock, don't get it anywhere near your eyes so that a drop of sweat might get some in that eye...  :'( It really stings and makes riding about as close to impossible as one might imagine.

On to the tune... To clear up any possible variances in Dynos, look at my first post and you'll see the other guy sent me out the door at 84/97. Steve's ran a baseline pull when I got to his shop and what do you know? Yep, 84/97 so we can agree that we are comparing apples and apples. Let's let the dyno sheet do the talking then I'll comment further. 002 is of course the baseline run and 017 and 018 are what we ended up with.

Behold:

Wow. Now to be totally fair we swapped the Monster Ovals for his 2.0 power cores which he said gained a couple pounds of twist while HP would probably be similar. I think we could say then the numbers would have been around 95-108ish which probably not coincidentally is what Harry got from his tune with Monster Rounds and an SEPST and again very similar to what my first "tuner" had to work with.

So, whattaya think?  :bananarock:

I have an appt with Steve next week thanks for the good news. By the way I'm kinda on the fence 2" or 1.75. Are the 2" obnoxious on the highway?

Homer, I had a choice of leaving the packing out or putting it back in with the screens... I wouldn't say they were obnoxious, but the tone was a little more percussive than I would have liked. Revving the motor at a stop it sounds really racy and definitely has some volume. Steve is shipping my Monster Ovals back to me along with my packing and I should have them by the weekend, I'll install the packing and see how much that changes it. If you are looking for "quiet" I would go with the 1.75, but let me get back to you with an update in a coupe days.

You will enjoy your trip and time at Fullsac, Steve is a really nice guy and answers all questions with a smile and solid info. I'm not sure where you're riding in from but you won't leave disappointed. :2vrolijk_21:

It feels great Harry, the bike runs like the bike was intended to run and definitely cooler. I can post pics but it looks virtually stock, but the butt dyno says a-ok!

Thanks, appreciate the info. Ran a VH Pro Pipe on my previous ride and now on the CVO the wife kinda likes the stock
exhaust note. Me I'm more interested in the dyno numbers 1.750 vs. 2.00.

If your wife like the stock exhaust I probably would lean towards the 1.75 core. Steve knew almost exactly what my numbers would end up at, he's done it with our bikes enough times... I'd just ask him. I'd bet whatever you give up won't be much and keeping the wife happy would probably trump the difference. ;)

Tim, that looks great. I think we've seen enough of these to know that with a competent tuner that's right in the ballpark as to what we can expect doing a stage one + tune on our bikes.

I'm really feeling duped from the first guy, I wish there was a way to sell my SESPT! :D Oh well, live and learn.
