Opinions on my 110.
« on: September 15, 2015, 03:51:17 PM »

I have a 2010 FatBob getting a brand new 110 put in to replace the old 96. I am having a SE-211 can set put in, with a heavy breather intake, and D and D fatcat to handle air circulation. It is getting dyno tuned using the screaming eagle Pro super tuner. I was wondering what kind of numbers should I expect and what to plan on doing next. I'm a aggressive highway rider that loves the power in the top end to keep pushing forward but use the bike daily.

I am curious how you came to the conclusion to put a 110 in?
not a 103, not a 117, not a 120, but a 110

I had a big bore kit making my 96 a 103. Last Monday the Harley dealer ship had my bike and it threw a rid out the bottom of the engine. The dealership said they would buy a new 103 to put in it I told them to go with the 110 because I wanted more then a 103 but didn't have the money to cover the difference to go with making the 103 a 113 or to get a 120.

Then why in the world would you let the dealer install a SE-211 cam???  :nixweiss:

The 120 ST is actually less than the 110 in the catalog and it comes with the 58mm TB.

I have no doubt that *IF* it were an option I would find some way to borrow 500 to get the 120,

I wish I did but dumping the 1,000 for a good exhaust is what pushed it.

No! You could be missing the point, here.
Run the basic pipe for now, buy the 120!
You can easily do the pipe later. The opportunity (if it really is that simple to switch) to get the 120 won't be available later but pipes are ALWAYS available..

The 120 ST already comes with a 58 mm throttlebody. So you really have to look at the cost of what you actually get with the crate motor and compare that way. The prices in the book can be deceiving.

Good information here!   The good news is you can have them send the 110 back and get a 120.  I'm certain they will work with you if you explain the reasoning above.  Like stated above, go with the lesser exhaust for now, but get the motor.  I bought my Dragulas 2-1 exhaust used from a member for $500, with hardly any miles on it (practically new).  There are ways to meet your budget and be way ahead.  Good luck!

They are telling me it considerably more like 1,700 more to go with the 120st and that the 110 has already been stamped for my bike and should be in in a day or two.

Did they tell you why it would be $1,700 more?  It will cost more because of what you may need to add to run the 120 in your bike but I am curious to see where they are adding the cost.  The motor itself is not $1,700 more...
