I've been riding since I was 16 (I am now 54) and I have ridden many bikes over the years including a 1973 FLH.
Last July, exactly 3 weeks before we were due to go on our first trip to America I crashed and totaled my beloved Hayabusa. I broke all the major bones in my right leg, two knuckles and 3 bones in my right hand and destroyed my knee. I spent one month in hospital and 2 1/2 months in a wheelchair. Needless to say we didn't make our trip. In November last year I was starting to walk a little and I was determined to buy and ride another bike. Without having ridden since my accident, and with a knee that won't bend much, I went to a Harley dealer and bought my 2007 Amarillo Gold CVO springer and rode the 200+ miles home with my wife following in a car worrying that I would crash again. I fell in love with that bike on that trip and started to ride it everyday to work. I have since bought a VRSCA for commuting and ride the springer on weekends.
In July this year we finally made the trip to the USA. I rented a bike in Las Vegas and rode 3500 miles in 2 weeks including Sturgis and the Black Hills. On that trip I met a guy named Walt from New Mexico who has a wonderful attitude to life. He is an older guy and we talked about bikes and crashes and I asked him how long he would keep riding. He thought for a minute and replied "Ahm gonna ride 'till ah can't ride no more." Since then I've thought about what Walt said and I've decided that like Walt, I'm gonna ride 'till I can't ride no more.
