ABS Light
« on: September 17, 2015, 06:09:25 AM »

Yesterday and today I've ridden to work in the morning on the bike. Yesterday, the ABS light is on the entire time. But when I rode home after work the light never did come on, all the way home.  Today, it was on so I stopped about 1 mile into the trip and turned to bike off then restarted it the light flickered and then went out at 3? mph like it it supposed to, but came back on as soon as I applied the brakes... about 50 feet from where I restarted the bike and stayed on for the next 11 miles until I got to work. Other than go to the dealer, anyone got any comments, ideas or suggestions? Any and all input is greatly appreciated. Thanks Y'all.

Check the diagnostic trouble codes stored by the bike, that will normally lead you in the right direction.  Do a visual and hands-on inspection of the wheel sensors and the wiring from them to the main wire harness; it isn't uncommon to have a wire chafe if it's not routed correctly, giving you an intermittent failure if it develops an open or short circuit due to flexing.  Let us know what codes you find.

I had a similar issue.  It ended up being a loose electrical connection on the ABS module...

Looks like there was a broken wire that was causing my ABS light to stay on. Thanks to Justin and the guys in the service department at Biker Bob's Harley Davidson in Taylor, Michigan for taking care of that for me.
