I would think you are getting ready to see a new CVO motor mid year. There are two rumors out there. We all know of the 120st motor that has passed CARB certifications already. But through the rumor mill I did hear some parts have been in production to support a new 116 ci motor. Time will tell.

I assume it's a feeble attempt by H-D to generate some Softail sales without a big investment.  They certainly need to do something to rekindle interest in the Dyna and Softail lines to keep from having all their eggs in the Touring basket, so to speak.

My bet is on the 116 motor or even a 113. This way the crate 120 would still be a viable sale option over the 113 or 116. If they put the 120 in as a standard they will have nothing larger to offer as a crate motor or accessory motor and I don't think we'll ever see them offer anything bigger than a 120.

The model specific upgrades to 103 occured when they began pushing it into production bikes.  At first it was a dealer installed option, then specific models came with it stock and then they pushed it into the entire lineup.  Think we may be seeing the beginning of pushing the 110 into lower production models.  No idea what will happen to CVO's but the fact that they've gone to the effort to produce an EPA compliant 120 says to me they want to use it as more than an aftermarket item.  JMO

A 113 would be an insult. Honestly they could keep the displacement at 110 and make big power improvements with compression bumps, cams and tunings.

The target audience wouldn't realize only three cubic inches isn't a big deal, so a 113 would impress those folks.  People that actually know something about these engines would probably be more interested in seeing some quality and reliability improvements much more than a larger number on the air cleaner and timer cover decals, if you know what I mean.

In the past H-D has upped displacement in increments of about seven cubic inches.  So if we assume they continue that pattern, we might see:  80 - 88 - 95 - 103 - 110 - 117.   On the other hand, now that they've gained the blessings of the EPA and CARB for the 120, why not just jump straight to that?  The 120 will fit many previous model years, so they would still have a huge potential market for the upgrade, and the top offering would once again be the same as what they put in the CVO's standard.  Seems like the easiest and cheapest way for Harley to go, rather than add another engine size between 110 and 120.   :nixweiss:

They did not make a cvo softail this year and most likely had some 110 B motors that they needed to use up. Just a guess.

It would be nice if they would address the bearing issue in any upgrade engine they choose to build or buy them from S&S and use there engines. It is so stupid that they would continue to build a larger displacement engine that still has the same issues. Why not fix this first! Trying to avoid the rant. Been thru 3 CVO 110s and all had the same problem. Now the proud owner of a S&S 124 and no issues.

To your point Jerry I was at the local dealer and notied there were hardly any Softails and Dynas on the floor compared to all the baggers.
