« on: September 27, 2015, 05:37:58 PM »

I have read a lot of threads on this subject so sorry for my confusion.
Does a 2009 CVO Road Glide have a cat in the exhaust or header pipes
Thanks in advance for your help

Yes.  The cat is in the header pipe in the collector pipe portion.

2009 CVO's and Calif. bikes have a catalytic converter in the collection portion of the header pipe.

The CVO's have had a catalyst in the collector from day one of the two into one into two stock exhaust system, in 2009.  The standard 49 state models did not, and that is where the confusion comes from.  For that one model year, the 49 state standard bikes didn't have a cat, and people with CVO's often bought the non-catalytic header pipe to replace theirs.

CVO and California Models:
66855-09
EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY catalytic (Domestic, Canada, California) (chrome) | PR

Standard 49 State Models:
66848-09
EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (Domestic, Canada) (chrome) | FB/FC/FF/FR/FS/FV/KB

In 2010 all the pipes required catalysts.

Thanks to everyone for clearing that up fpr me.  That would mean that if I went to a Vance and Hine header pipe it would reduce the heat on the right side?  I already have V&H slip ons

Correct, the heat would be greatly reduced. Fullsac is the way to go over VH IMHO, do a little search.

You're going to want (need) to re-tune the bike after removing the cat.
